Two months after his son's body was flown home from Iraq, Nick Berg's father says he has become increasingly frustrated that the federal government has not given him more complete answers about its role in his son's detention prior to his kidnapping and murder.
The Bergs' congressman, also frustrated in his attempt to host a combined briefing of the agencies involved - the State, Defense and Justice Departments - has asked for a congressional hearing if that does not occur.
Although the congressman, U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach (R., Pa.), has received written accounts of Nick Berg's arrest and detention from State and Defense Department officials, he said yesterday that "there are still a lot of unanswered questions." The Bergs, he said, "have a right to fully understand."
In an interview this week, Nick Berg's father, Michael, of West Chester, said the government "has been persistent in its complete apathy toward us."

This Rep. Gerlach is in a bind. He's a conservative Bush lap-dog who is in his first term. In 2002 he was supposed to be a shoe-in for election to the House, but was almost defeated in an upset by a strong Dem. contender.
