Governor Angered by 'Chaos' Over Budget- Schwarzenegger berates Democrats
SACRAMENTO — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, declaring "there's chaos here," opened a public and private war Thursday with the California Legislature over failure to pass a state budget now more than two weeks overdue.
...
"I will stay here until 2006. I will stay here, and I will fight like a warrior for the people," he said. "And there is no one that can stop me. If anyone pushes me around, I will push back, including the Democrats and the special interests. Trust me."
...
Schwarzenegger has been losing patience with Democrats' unwillingness to budge on two issues important to Republicans: repealing a pro-labor law that makes it easier for workers to sue employers and expanding school contracting laws to allow private firms to bid for services such as busing....
...
...the governor said he supported Republican efforts to give schools new privileges to sign outside contracts for bus and cafeteria services — something staunchly opposed by unions and Democrats.

"Why would we go and give the money so much needed for education in this state to the union drivers rather than keeping it right in the classroom?" Schwarzenegger asked. "I always said in my campaign the children should have the first call on our treasury, not the drivers. They should be able to contract out to the lowest bidder."

Does Arnold not realize that The Children in the classrooms have parents that need living wages?

19. Go, Jesse, go!
Beginning to sound a lot like Ventura sour grapes as he was "warring" against a recalcitrant legislature.

Already. Almighty Conan better have Cheney's ticker squad on standby.

4. He is fighting "for the people"
but wants to repeal a law that allows employees to sue their employers? Guess I know which "people" he is fighting for. I don't know why Arnold is so upset. Didn't he say the Governorship would be a cakewalk? LOL

11. Golly, a warrior for the people!
Looks like Musclehead is about to find out that politics doesn't quite unspool like a movie. Oddly enough, scurrilous mouth-running fails to impress the people you have to work with. Someone might want to explain that to the Austrian dope.

No one can stop you? Better read the state constitution, Party Boy. This isn't a Terminator movie or Predator or Kindergarten Cop; it's real life, and you're screwing around with lives and well-being of real people who work hard and deserve a fair wage.

But Ah-nuld is right about one thing: He will stay until 2006. I doubt California will go for another recall effort, but I don't think the state will see any wisdom in another term for Schwarzenegger.

Edited on Sat Jul-17-04 01:56 PM by Democat
The California media couldn't kiss more Arnold ass if they tried:

Schwarzenegger has been losing patience with Democrats' unwillingness to budge on two issues important to Republicans

When a Republican like Arnold or Bush stands their ground, it shows they're strong and honest and a great leader.

When a Democrat stands their ground, they are unwilling to do what needs to be done for the great Arnold to be happy.

Guess the honeymoon's over. And just a month ago the newspapers were saying how charming he was and how effective. I give him a year before his popularity really starts to plummet. After the next election he and Jesse Ventura can have a beer and puff on a cigar about the end of their political careers.

So Ahnold isn't going to be running again in 2006? He's probably already longing to get the hell out of Sacramento and go back to making crappy action flicks before his facelift starts sagging. I think this whole Governor gig is something he really didn't want, but his ego got in the way and he got stuck in the role.

Gov. Says Lawmakers 'Acting Like Children'

By Jordan rau, Times Staff Writer

STOCKTON — Wrapping up his weekend blitz through three swing legislative districts, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger condemned lawmakers Sunday for "acting like children" but passed up an opportunity to fault the state Senate's most vulnerable Democratic incumbent on his home turf.

The governor prepared to return to Sacramento to resume negotiations over the stalled state budget, with only a week before two significant deadlines.

On July 28, the state is expected to make its first payments of the fiscal year to schools and community colleges, and many Democratic lawmakers would like to be able to leave Sacramento to attend the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

The day after Schwarzenegger called legislators "girlie men" in remarks in Ontario, he told a crowd gathered in the food court of Stockton's Sherwood Mall that trial lawyers, unions and other "special interests" were "dug in" at the Capitol "like Alabama ticks, and we cannot get rid of them."
(snip/...)

How would Arnold be able to make a comparison of ANYTHING to "Alabama ticks?"

Not a Democrat!
