G.O.P. and Cheney Turn Focus to Edwards in Minnesota (barf bag alert)
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/07/18/politics/campaign/18cheney.html

MINNEAPOLIS, July 17 - Republicans may sometimes try to cast him as an inconsequential candidate for the vice presidency, but Senator John Edwards featured prominently at a rally here Saturday by Vice President Dick Cheney.

"President Bush has his opponent in this campaign, and now I have mine," Mr. Cheney told more than 1,000 supporters. "We are looking forward to a spirited contest."

Mr. Cheney and organizers of the rally worked hard to project an almost youthful spirit.

Signs held aloft by children and inscribed "Cheney Rocks" and "Too Cool" were part of an MTV-style photomontage projected on screens beside the stage inside the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Taking to the stage, Mr. Cheney whipped off his blue blazer before starting to speak, prompting a raucous cheer from the crowd.

5. 'almost youthful spirit' is not a compliment - anyone can have youthful
spirits, ask Granny D. Sounds like Cheney tried for something and missed. How sad for him.

18. Texas and Texas....
The bionic dick only moved to Wyoming when someone pointed out that they could not have recieved Texas's electoral votes. I just wish that the idiots had overlooked that one little fact. Just when you figure they couldn't find their asses with both hands and a flashlight, they manage to find an obscure little election law that would have kept them out of the White House.

6. Too Cool, LMAO
If that doesn't make teenagers laugh so hard that they drown in their own spittle, I don't know what will

also, frankly, I'd be extremely concerned if Cheney started "whipping off" clothes....

:hippie:

9. "Raucous" cheering when cheney "whipped off" his blue blazer???
Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 12:10 AM by nu_duer
That's kinda strange, isn't it?

As the fonzification of cheney develops, will we see MC cheney dressed in black sweats with shades and gold chains, rappin' about how every one who doesn't want to serve him can fuck off.

"cheney rocks" - sheesh, that's unbelievably bad

10. I had to read this twice - I thought it was a parody.
HOW did anyone get Cheney to behave this way? He must be really scared that they are going to drop him from the ticket.

I wish I had seen this. I really do. OMG how funny.

11. it's almost too pathetic to be funny
almost. Poor Cheney - he has no strengths of his own to compete with, so he has to try and appear youthful to compete with Edwards.
No, it is too awful. Even The Onion wouldn't be so cruel.

However, when I remember his crimes I think he does deserve this fate, or worse.

19. Cheney must be on the same joy juice as his doctor is
I have just finished my coffee, and it almost came back up just thinking about what ripping off his jacket must have looked like.
They're nearly paranoid about John Edward's good looks, sheesh! :puke: :wtf: :argh:

15. Trying to tout Cheney as youthful, is going to backfire
Remember when Pat Boone donned leather pants to woo the younger crowds, and it backfired on him? Well, this will too.
Cheney is a mean old cold hearted bastard who snarls. No amount of children forced to carry signs (and believe me they are forced) will undo his nasty ageing decrepit lying face and demeanor.
Its so transparent a PR tactic as to be humourous.
Rove:" I know! Lets make Cheney into a bebopping cool dude! Pat! Got those leather pants in storage? We can use em now!"
Cheney in a debate, standing next to Edwards, is going to look like Scrooge standing next to a nice young man.
No amount of lipstick on that pig will turn Cheney into a kind, gentle, decent, honest, heartfelt person.
The US public knows hes a mean lying bastard who sends our kids off to wars to die for his friends.
