2 Calif. Macy's Stores Stage 1-Day Strike

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - More than 1,500 workers from two Macy's stores in San Francisco walked off the job on Saturday in a one-day strike to protest pay rates and insufficient sick days.

The two stores to go on strike, Macy's West flagship at Union Square and the Stonestown store, are the only two in the 144-store Macy's West chain that are unionized.

Their labor contract expired on May 31 and the company has been holding talks with the local branch of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union since then.

Good for them !!!

ALL workers should be union..There is NO employee on earth that can expect to be treated fairly and to have real input into their jobs without one..

There is a reason why "bosses" hate unions.. The reason is this.. They do NOT want to spread the wealth any more than they HAVE to.. Unions force the employers to think of employees as more than a "necessary evil"..

Go Macys.. I may start shopping there:)
