CIA: 9/11 Plotters Transited Iran, Govt Tie Unseen

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - About eight of the Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers had transited Iran before attacking the United States, but there is no sign Iran's government took part in the plot, the CIA's acting director said on Sunday.

"We have no evidence that there is some sort of official sanction by the government of Iran for this activity. We have no evidence that there is some sort of official connection between Iran and 9/11," John McLaughlin, acting director of the Central Intelligence Agency, said on 'Fox News Sunday.'

However, he said, it was not surprising that the hijackers were able to transit Iran, given what he said was the country's history of supporting terrorism.

Iran acknowledged some of the 19 Sept. 11 attackers may have passed through illegally, but said it had since tightened its border controls. It said any attempts to tie the country to al Qaeda, the militant network which carried out the attacks, were part of U.S. election-year "news propaganda."

Also, all of this assumes the "hijackers" actually carried out 9-11, which has never been proven to begin with. Indeed, the only judicial case ever brought--in Germany--has largely fallen apart for lack of evidence.

you're kidding, right?! I mean, why is it so difficult to believe that a group of so-called extreme islamo-fundamentalists, who liked to spend hundred$ of dollar$ on lap dances and blow, and couldn't even fly a crop duster, were able to maneuver commercial airliners as if they were F-16s?
