Conservatives to Protest Anti-GOP Protest
EW YORK - Groups planning to demonstrate against the upcoming Republican National Convention will have some unfriendly company on the asphalt and concrete outside Madison Square Garden. Members of a new group of young GOP conservatives plan to protest the protesters.

Tom Paladino, who leads the New York chapter of Protest Warriors, a nationwide organization, said members want to show the protesters that "there are Republicans that will protest them right back."

Added Jason Sager, a member from Brooklyn: "We are the right-wing freedom fighters. We are out there and are just as animated as the protesters can be."

Protest Warriors, which claims about 3,000 members nationwide, expects about 200 in New York for the four-day convention, which begins Aug. 30 and is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of opponents of President Bush (news - web sites).

142. Hmm.. it begs the question:
Why aren't they all in Iraq, since they're "Patriot Warriors"? Seems that since they're all fired up for their country, they should be putting their money where their mouths are... it takes a small man to sabre-rattle----it takes a big man to live the 'truth' he speaks... if they're that gung-ho about all of this, why are they here and not in the military?

Tell you what--those who are there should have some recruitment papers--or signs saying "When are you going to sign up to go die for your country, little boy?"

109. So by that you mean that only republicans enlist in our services??
You are spitting in the face of our servicemen/women. When they signed up, regardless of political views, they had no idea they'd be in a war right now. Let's keep that subject out of the forum, ok??

Your post completely misses the point. No one here is dissing any service personnel currently enlisted.

What we're saying is that the people not enlisted, who are so gung-ho over the war effort, ought to go sign up so they can go to Iraq themselves.

143. No one is spitting in anyone's face... we're calling them on their
double-face rhetoric.

These people DO know what those now in the military are fighting for, and they're too chicken-shit to go over there and be a part of this 'glorious' exercise. They'd rather take the punk's way out of doing the same by hiding behind the skirts of the term 'protest' instead of being men, signing up for active duty and taking up arms and fighting for what they claim they believe in.

85. I resent their warrior label
as I resent Bush masquerading as a warrior. I am so sick and tired of these Rambo-esque mini-men pumping themselves up by pretending to be some addled-brain image of a "warrior". What they know about being a warrior is watching movies and playing video games. These people are children desperate for a persona they don't have. Their lives must be small and desperate.

What sad little turds these boys are.
It is well that I cannot afford the plane fare, unemployed as I am, to attend these "Warriors" counter-protest. In the last three and one-half years my hatred for these little bastards has eaten away all tolerance of ignorance and stupidity. If I were to meet them on the street I know that I would do them violence. That would be wrong, but I no longer care.

They really have nothing to say to someone's anti-war stance on the military if they, themselves, never spent a minute in the service. They're nothing but a chickenhawk and a coward--encouraging others to do what they themselves dont' have the guts to do. Go sign up, do a couple of tours of duty then come back and tell us all about ourselves. Until then, they're a wannabe with no credibility.

Why should Democrats be the only ones that are able to protest?
Turn about is fair play after all.
Look here is my issue I do not want to be disrespectful because there is a few things about G.W I don’t like however, it seems that when ever a Republican expresses his views he is shut down and slandered If a republican did some of the things that Democrats do there would be a sh*t storm. for example when counter protesting the anti-war protesters some of the anti-war protesters started picking fights with the counter protesters or the Pizza place in Mass that is shutting down for the Dem convention and has a Pro Bush banner is facing fines where is the A.C.L.U on that one?

20. The power of eight
There will 8,000 RW dailies report about them 8 just before the 8 show up. There will be at least 8,000,000 that know about it and 8 repuke owned rags reporting the 800,000 or so that they will say didn't really show up, and it was all inflated. (These RW rags are ALL getting there arses kicked in now, in just profits alone, by the INTERNET).

They are getting what they produced, empty space and air. These rags and pontificators might alone have saved this medium of communication had it not been for all the other wonderful things it's good for.

These aren't Protest Warriors. They're Protest WORRIERS!

These are young mediocre white males who spent all their time in high school (and maybe college) engaged in activities like WRESTLING. Now they've graduated and are slowly coming to the realization that the only job for which they are fit is BAGGING GROCERIES. They're having difficulty accepting that they're not the heroes they thought they were.

Moreover, because they failed to cultivate their own intellect, they feel threatened by folks who are intelligent and articulate, e.g., folks who peaceably exercise their constitutional right to free speech through organized protest.

Dismay-at-loss-of-sports-jock-hero-status + fear-of-intelligent-and- articulate-others = emergence of Protest Worriers.

The best way to deal with these sorry pieces of shit is to buy them some cheap beer and get them talking about their high school (or college) "glory days" on the wrestling mat. Avoid asking embarrassing questions like "so, what do you do for a living?"

Bring on the Protest Worriers!!!

27. Hi Jay
Glad to hear you "supported the military". Why didn't you join up? After all, aren't you guys "warriors"?

Also glad to hear you got such a nice financial aid package to go to college. Although I would think someone of your intellect would find that it to be socialism. Why should society have to pay for you to go to school? If you really wanted to go to school, you should have "pulled yourself up by your bootstraps", you wouldn't want some government program to guarantee your loans, would you? I guess you didn't want it bad enough to not be a burden on the rest of society. But we forgive you.

31. hey there, jay
you've accomplished a lot in a few years. you have lots of reasons to be proud of yourself.

just wondering, though, why you're lurking about a message board whose philosophy you don't agree with? that's some kind of odd voyeurism, i'd think.

i come from a working class family, too. i was the first in my family to go to college. only i didn't have grades good enough to get scholarships. i had loans and paid what they didn't cover. sorry to hear all your hard studying hurt your eyesight.

eyesight .... hmmm.... maybe that's why you can't see that the man whose policies your supporting wants to draft your working class ass. did you think the national award you got from bill clinton -- of course, you spat in his face when you received it, didn't you? he's the reason for everything bad in this world -- would move you high enough in the pecking order where you'd be immune from being cannon fodder for corporate america?

and like the previous post-er, i wonder why you accepted those scholarships. do you enjoy getting a free ride? do you really think a college education should be free? that is, indeed, socialism at work.

best of luck to you. hope a well-meaning liberal doesn't rip your head off and shit down your neck during the convention. if you and your crew provoke them, well, that may be what'll happen.

could be good training for your tour of afghanistan or iraq, guarding either construction of the pipeline or halliburton workers.

and, oh -- the protest warriors' initials. you might want to think about that. growing up, p.w. stood for p*ssy whipped. just a thought.

42. Hi, Jay!
Welcome to the boards. I hope the anger about your politics and beliefs don't put you off. You have a lot to be proud of, as you have accomplished so much.

I do have a problem with one of your main premises, though. There are vets on this board, vets' wives, current military personnel, and many, many, many of us who support our troops. We happen to believe that supporting the troops means sending them stuff our government just happened to not give them or give them enough of (like flack jackets, socks, good food, and medical supplies). It also means questioning whether they are giving their lives in vain. Our government needs to be held responsible for any life, American or not, shed for the wrong purpose. We have lost so many of our military personnel in the last hundred years that we need to start asking the tough questions. Are you really okay with knowing you have friends in harm's way for a war based on lies?

Well, it's not like you're staying around to actually discuss anything are you, as you've said that you're going to cut and run. Oh well, we might have been able to actually talk instead of scream at each other across some fencing and saw horses.

78. I've been through that with some Right wing nuts
The see "National Socialism" and insteadof looking it up, they assume that NAtional Socialism = Socilisim rather than the Fascsism that National Socialism is based on.

It is kind of fun to watch their denial when you point it out and provide dictionary defintions of each.

130. That's because the Nazis knew the power of doublespeak
The full name, "Nationalsozialistische Arbeiter-Partei" meant "National Socialists Workers' Party." They were the pro-worker party, don'tcha know. :eyes:

Today's equivalent would be phrases like "Compassionate Conservative" and "I am a uniter, not a divider."

32. Protesting the right to protest
Without exception every US President in the last half century has disliked that right citizens have. They go all the way across the water to China and make sure it doesn't happen over there, to be sure. (Them protesters probably like authoritarian rule :nopity: )

When Greed Sacrificed Democracy
The high costs of failing to safeguard human rights
(snip)
Through the eyes of Cassy Jones, an American teacher in Beijing who became involved with Yan Daobao, one of the leaders of the Chinese students’ resistance in the 1980s, we see the growth of the student movement that culminated in the Tienanmen Square demonstrations. It’s like a Greek tragedy unfolding, and although you know how it will end, it is still a heart-wrenching journey.

Thomas takes us on a day-by-day, sometimes hour-by-hour, voyage through the life of China and its recent history—the infighting among its leaders, the hopes and dreams of the youth that swept the nation, and how close they really came to overthrowing the Communist regime. With interviews of diplomats and officials, he brings us into the analysis and decision-making processes of American intelligence, and the economic and political decisions of the major powers to do nothing to help the Chinese people in their desperate quest for democracy.

“In the Beijing office of Kissinger Associates, staff sent an update on the demonstrations to the consultancy’s office in Washington.... The report would be distributed by Henry Kissinger to his fellow board members, former Presidents Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, as well as executive members Alexander Haig, Robert McFarlane and Zbigniew Brzezinski. Some of the most powerful men in the United States had ‘had their alarm bells rung,’ a Kissinger Associates employee would say. ...

he United States, insisted the President, would do nothing to make things more difficult . Any approach by the students to the U.S. embassy in Beijing for help was to be firmly refused. ...

I seen a more conclusive article (from a more normal group) on how all these folks get together to squash any democratic movement in China, but can't find it just now

29. LINK that has protest warrior newsletter
This cracks me up big time -- The protest warrior's newsletter: Total ridiculousness about terrorism (really ironic because they highlight the hotspots -- Iran and North Korea -- that Bush has done NOTHING about! More at this link (scroll down) http://www.bluelemur.com/index.php?p=104

Our war in Iraq has truly separated the wheat from the chaff, as we’ve seen the true agenda of the leftist mindset come to the fore. Loathe to admit that they hate freedom, they will desperately cling to their shopworn canards, about this war being at the behest of Halliburton, or Big Oil, or a shadowy cabal of neocons, rather than just admit that they don’t want to see the Western values of freedom and individual rights spread. And since every society that has ever been run under socialist or Islamist precepts has degenerated into barbarism and tyranny, our enemies can only respond by demonizing America rather than defending their position...

And North Korea, a country that has followed the principles of socialism to the maximum and created a society to rival Orwell’s 1984 for its sheer totalitarian depravity, an almost perfect monolith of evil, is sitting on a nuclear reactor, courtesy of Clinton and Co., and will inevitably be selling instruments of death to the highest bidder. Think we’ll hear a peep from the left?

111. OK, let me look at this
So these people believe that we are spreading "Western values of freedom and individual rights" by invading Iraq. I fail to see, through my 'liberal ignorance', how declaring war without provocation on a soveriegn nation, resulting in an estimated 70,000 Iraqi military deaths (not red-eyed heathens, but fathers, sons, brothers and husbands. They were/are EXACTLY like our troops) and 12,000 civilian deaths. Setting chaos throughout the region, destabilizing any sense of order, giving way to massive looting and strife which cause the looting of priceless artifacts from Iraq's museums, the severe damaging to 3,000 schools and further destruction to what was left of Iraq's crippled (from the invasion, of course) infastructure. Giving way to the rise of a sham puppet government, in which the leader shoots ALLEGED insurgents in cold blood (this was reportedly done by Saddam, as well, so I can see the new guy is quickly learning the tricks of the trade). Cities have been torn apart because of sophmoric incursions by U.S. troops, damaging sacred shrines, destroying Mosques, causing massive amounts of homeless families, bombing weddings. Our troops are in the middle of the most hostile enviornment since Vietnam. Countless innocents, including children, have been incarcerated and tortured for no real reason at all. Peaceful demonstrations have been gunned down by coalition troops on several occasions (and don't tell me the Iraqis fired first because investigations have shown that there were no bullet-holes in the vicinity of where the coalition troops were positioned); as well as passer-by cars, filled with families have been pumped full of lead because they did not heed an english warning (which, for an ignorant freeper's information, is not Iraq's language). This, of course, is really what terrorist organizations were waiting for. Untold numbers of eager fighters, ready to take down the doer of these dastardly deeds: The U.S.A. Oh, yes, I can smell the Iraqi's new found freedoms in the air.

They also believe that North Korea is socialist??? The country is a totalitarian dictatorship! How hard is this to grasp!? All you have to do is see that the dictator has more money than he can spend while his people starve. Socialist states distribute wealth EVENLY!!!

OK I'm done, I really needed to get that off my chest.

Bush's "Christian" Blood Cult
Concerns Raised by the Vatican

by WAYNE MADSEN

George W. Bush proclaims himself a born-again Christian. However, Bush and fellow self-anointed neo-Christians like House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, John Ashcroft, and sports arena Book of Revelations carnival hawker Franklin Graham appear to wallow in a "Christian" blood lust cult when it comes to practicing the teachings of the founder of Christianity. This cultist form of Christianity, with its emphasis on death rather than life, is also worrying the leaders of mainstream Christian religions, particularly the Pope.

One only has to check out Bush's record as Governor of Texas to see his own preference for death over life. During his tenure as Governor, Bush presided over a record setting 152 executions, including the 1998 execution of fellow born-again Christian Karla Faye Tucker, a convicted murderer who later led a prison ministry. Forty of Bush's executions were carried out in 2000, the year the Bush presidential campaign was spotlighting their candidate's strong law enforcement record. The Washington Post's Richard Cohen reported in October 2000 that one of the execution chamber's "tie-down team" members, Fred Allen, had to prepare so many people for lethal injections during 2000, he quit his job in disgust.

Bush mocked Tucker's appeal for clemency. In an interview with Talk magazine, Bush imitated Tucker's appeal for him to spare her life - pursing his lips, squinting his eyes, and in a squeaky voice saying, "Please don't kill me." That went too far for former GOP presidential candidate Gary Bauer, himself an evangelical Christian. "I think it is nothing short of unbelievable that the governor of a major state running for president thought it was acceptable to mock a woman he decided to put to death," said Bauer.

A former Texas Department of Public Safety officer, a devout Roman Catholic, told this reporter that evidence to the contrary, Bush was more than happy to ignore DNA data and documented cases of prosecutorial misconduct to send innocent people to the Huntsville, Texas lethal injection chamber. He said the number of executed mentally retarded, African Americans, and those who committed capital crimes as minors was proof that Bush was insensitive and a "phony Christian." When faced with similar problems in Illinois, Governor George Ryan, a Republican, commuted the death sentences of his state's death row inmates and released others after discovering they were wrongfully convicted. Yet the Republican Party is pillorying Ryan and John Ashcroft's Justice Department continues to investigate the former Governor for political malfeasance as if Bush and Ashcroft are without sin in such matters. Hypocrisy certainly rules in the Republican Party.

76. So where do they get to protest
Presumably there will be a "free speech zone" but who gets it? Will there be a second one, then a third? What is the formula for determining the distance away from the actual event for each subprotest? Is it a linear equation, logarythmic or a Zeta function?

84. PUB's Motto: Give it a Label and they will come
"Protest Warriors." And don't cha just love thier cute little logo???? A musceled bound ape toting one big hefty sword on one shoulder while gently holding his little sign in the other so that he will be sure to get credit for all his bravery. To complete this little piece of art, there is an arc circling the head and the mighty sword which must mean that this group has been given the blessings and sanctions of the little god himself.....George W. Bush.

For your amusement try to imagine Gary Bauerer, DeLay, Sanitorius, Ashcroft, etc., face on this logo.

These "Protest Warriors," have never seen a war where actual blood was let, that they could not and would not personally avoid nor a protest to support the benefits for the troops.

87. Do they realize...?
How freighted with homoerotic symbolism their logo is? And hey, lil warrior dudes, not that there's anything wrong with that! But even a first year psych major would see that there appears to be some inner conflicts these "warriors" need to resolve before they go out and make fools of themselves.

I can see it now...some NYC women mopping up the sidewalks with these frat boys.

"... they act like they're the only ones with the right to protest in this country, and anyone else has invalid views and should be silenced."

I honestly wish I could go to NY to:

1. Protest the RNC

and

2. Meet one of these guys in person. I'd bring a sign with the comments that one PW said about how 9-11 wouldn't have been so bad if everyone in the toweres had been DUers. I'd also bring my camcorder to record their expressions. PRICELESS!

While hatred for the “opposite side” is prevalent on the left as well as the right, that website and the people in it should be exposed to the world. They, like their heroin Anne Coulter, should be paraded about on prime time TV. The strident, hateful views of these people would do more to usher in Liberalism than anything any Democrat could ever hope to do.

In reading through the diatribes on the board I was reminded of me when I was 20 years old; a hateful, arrogant, paranoid, uneducated, theoretical drone who could muster only standard cliches’ and ad hoc attacks. An actual thought-process was lacking. An actual thought-process lacks in those people, at least that is what they portray to me when I read their vitriol.

Their “views” are based in a knee-jerk, instinctive, cliché’ filled paradigm that is merely “against” something (government, Liberals, higher education, media, communism, etc) while never promoting a positive program of intellectual reason outside of their narrow-minded vision of all things abstract (freedom).

I certainly don’t like the hatred oftentimes displayed on the left, but I can’t remember anyone on our side saying they wished 9/11 had taken out Republicans. This is a sad commentary and it explains how people like Tim McVeigh are created. Their suspected “love” of America (which I challenge is nothing but an apparatus to advance far right ideology. Let us see how many are so overtly “patriotic” if Kerry is elected) is only out shadowed by their hatred and antagonism toward those with a view of the world that is different than their own. Those people are sad and hapless, but generally harmless. Rage and hate such as this is nothing but a “deep-seated, self-directed frustration.”

98. agreed they are harmless
most of them are not hateful from what i've seen, if you actually read their threads most dont even like Bush, but would vote for him because conservatives have no viable candidate otherwise.

I dont believe they are against freedom... i say let them talk all they want and let people decide who to believe... if they are smart they will ignore them

102. How to count protest/anti-protest numbers at rallies
Whatever number the press reports for the progressive side: Multiply it by 4

Whatever number the press reports for the conservative side: Take a zero off the end.

I saw a report on FoxNews that there were 300k marches at the March for Choice rally last April and 2000 anti-choicers.

My theory works because in reality there were about 1million pro-choicers and 200 anti-choicers

Have about a thousand Democratic protestors break off to protest the Young Republicans(the old at heart, reptiles in the egg). Easy enough to outnumber any GOP gathering. They could also be assigned to thus protecting the fledgling vultures from extinction.

114. I need some info!
I just realized that my side trip to visit a friend in NYC happens to coincide exactly with the RNC!!! After being forced to silently fume in Japan for the last year, I want to get involved with the demonstrations in NYC!

So, ah, where can I find details about this thing, like what groups are organizing, who to contact, what I should I bring, etc? I just had this idea about 30 seconds when I saw the words NYC and 29th next to each other. Any help would be appreciated!

200,000 demonstrators will now be 200,001 demonstrators!

115. Congratulations.
All you really need to know is how to find Madison Square Garden (33rd St. and Seventh Avenue).

Some organizations:

United for Peace and Justice (biggest march)
Not in Our Name (guaranteed no metal barricades)

Look at those websites. If you don't find enough information, send me a DU mail.

I think people will be everywhere, so you won't have a problem linking up with protestors.

Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 05:41 AM by 0007
can put on.

Like the one protest against the anti war rallies at the beginning of the Iraq war. Maybe twenty freepers showed up, against one million left wingers.

The freepers are sneaky, like Tom DeLay flying in plane loads of people to disrupt the 2000 election recount in Florida.

This time these cock-a-roches will be so overwhelmed they'll run home to mommy.

140. True, but the reason they are protesting is feeble minded - to
protest what others are saying --- because they think they should not be protesting is feeble minded. But, as you said and I agree it's freedom. I can also jump in the lake because I am free to do it but I would not accomplish much.

147. Question: Why does the "liberal media" always publicize
Edited on Sat Jul-24-04 11:50 AM by socialdemocrat1981
these conservative fringe groups and voice their main talking points while ignoring what the liberal/progressive protest organizations and fringe groups have to say? These guys are entitled to their publicity but, surely since the media is so "liberal", left wing groups should also get equal airtime

Seriously...this is the third time that this particular news source has covered a conservative fringe group -first of all it was "Punks for Bush" and then something else for Bush and now this. Why don't they ever seek to air the viewpoints of the various liberal groups demonstrating at the convention?
