Rep. Davis: Bush turning blind eye to ailing economy
WASHINGTON (Reuters)

Democrats accused President Bush on Saturday of refusing to recognize that his fiscal policies are weakening the economy.

"President Bush's misguided economic policies of huge tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and spiraling budget deficits have been a failure," U.S. Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama said in delivering the Democrats' weekly radio address. -

Davis said, "Perhaps that explains why there were no dissenting opinions about the state of the economy," which Bush declared to be on the mend.

"What the president did not hear, and what he continues to ignore, is that his economic policies have caused deep deficits and widespread job loss that continue to weaken our economy, not improve it," Davis said.
