Canada's pot exports overstated: RCMP

OTTAWA (CP) — Canada's budding reputation as America's pot pusher is getting a shakedown from some new figures that tell a different tale.

Far from being the major exporter of marijuana to the United States as many might think, Canada accounts for only a small fraction of the American supply, a newly released report indicates.

The RCMP's annual assessment of the drug situation in Canada, citing the latest seizure statistics, points out that most U.S. marijuana is homegrown or smuggled in from Mexico.

While the amount of pot detected moving south from Canada has increased steadily since 2000, to almost 15,700 kilograms last year, it was dwarfed by the 406,000 kilograms of Mexican marijuana seized at the U.S. border in 2003.

1. The U.S. has to do anything

To besmirch Canada's image. Since the defection of the British government, and the loss of their position as a government that actually attemptsto lead domestically, by placing the intests and well being of its people over the interests of large corporations, as well as the Canadian governments desire to lead by example, and to utilize diplomatic, rather than military means to solve international crisis, Canada has become the "first among equals" of nations.

Canada attempts to solve problems by negotiation between equals, rather than settle thme through the bullying barrel of a gun, which is now the method of choice of The United States and Great Britain.

It is Canada, and not Britain or the Unites States that is the superpower of moral persuasion.

It has done what we cannot do, providing universal healthcare for all of its citizens while maintaining a sound economy, it has provided a working social services network which results in fewer of its citizens needing to rsort to crime to obtain the essential of life. And it has most surely shown that it beleives that its citizens, not its corporations, are its most important responsibility.

The U.S. government has no choice to attack what makes it look so very bad. And make sure U.S. citizens NEVER look at what Canada is really like, or demand what Canadians have. A government that works in the true best interests of its citizens.
