Trooper Pulls Woman To Safety From Edge Of Bridge (Green Bay, WI)
Trooper Pulls Woman To Safety From Edge Of Bridge

POSTED: 9:52 am EDT July 20, 2004

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- A state trooper saved a woman's life by holding onto her arm as she tried to plunge off the side of a bridge in a scene captured on a squad car video camera.
Video

After a brief chase, the suicidal woman pulled onto the Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge, got out of her car and walked straight to the edge. Trooper Les Boldt rushed over, grabbed her right arm and hung on with both hands.

www.cbsnews.com has the video of this incident and an interview with the cop.

I've been on that bridge, it's a heckuva long way down.

1. That guy is my choice for hero of the day
I saw him on the news this morning-the woman fought with him while he was trying to pull her back up, but he hung on and saved her life.

2. I drive that bridge every day
Ocean freighters go under it. The center span where she was, is almost 200 feet high above the water.

If you have vertigo its not the place to be.

That Officer almost got pulled over the edge.

It took a lot of guts on his part that's for sure !!!!

8. Yes, Tower Drive and Leo Frigo are one in the same bridge.
It is a high bridge. From that height, there isn't much difference between hitting concrete and hitting water.

6. She was suffering from....
post-partum depression, a very nasty form of the disease. Suicide and matricide are not uncommon results of the disease.

7. Great job, officer!
This is the kind of stuff police can do when they are not wasting time stalking pot smokers. :smoke:
