U.S. sees Libya as model on North Korea
http://www.iht.com/articles/530227.html

...John Bolton, the under secretary of state for arms control and international security, is considered one of Washington's more hawkish critics of North Korea. Last year, he called North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Il, a "tyrannical rogue" and described life in the North as a "hellish nightmare."

In return, Pyongyang branded him "human scum."

Nevertheless, Bolton told the South Korean foreign minister, Ban Ki Moon, that President George W. Bush was "very eager to have a peaceful diplomatic solution to this problem." Bolton said that he hoped his visit would forge a coordinated approach to disarming Pyongyang.
.
Libya held useful lessons in that regard, he said.

Nice to see such diplomatic pillow talk...

Reminds me of:

http://www.newyorker.com/shouts/content/

After Mr. Cheney successfully delivered the epithet and started to walk away, Mr. Leahy—sotto voce—referred to the Vice-President using a term more often heard in taverns and locker rooms than in the august Senate chamber, a term that refers to a sexual act commonly acknowledged as taboo among all cultures that proscribe incestuous contact between a mother and a son.

Mr. Cheney—apparently hearing Mr. Leahy’s remark—stopped, turned, and invited his colleague from across the aisle to engage in a sexual act that is considered a felony in some states, and which involves oral-genital contact.

Mr. Leahy then suggested that the president of the Senate take his gavel and use it to perform an act that, while not technically impossible in anatomical terms, would certainly be considered both unseemly and unhygienic, and which would require an unusual combination of single-minded ambition and physical relaxation.

2. It's "make nice to N. Korea" time...
so that they don't f*ck up the election.

Knowing them, though, I suspect it's futile.

But watch out for the giveaways...

3. It'll never happen. You know why?
Because the Libya talks started under Clinton's administration, Bush was lucky enough to grab unwarranted glory from negotiations by Clinton.

This administration doesn't have any diplomats with enough savvy or clout to get North Korea to agree to anything.

4. Moreover, the N. Koreans will play 'em like a cheap fiddle...
Expect something militant to come out of N. Korea - like another missle firing or something.

Which will yield MORE concessions from the Bush junta...
