4 Marines Killed In Action
(CBS/AP) Four U.S. Marines were killed in action in separate incidents in Anbar Province, a Sunni-dominated area west of Baghdad, the military said Tuesday.

Two Marines were killed Tuesday while conducting "security and stability operations" in the province, the military said.

Another Marine was killed in action Monday and a fourth died of wounds received in action Monday in Anbar, the military said in a statement.

The military declined to identify the Marines until it notified the next of kin.

As of Tuesday, 891 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq in March 2003, according to the U.S. Defense Department.

Also Tuesday, a roadside bomb attack on a vehicle near the city of Baqouba, north of Baghdad, killed four civilians and wounded two others, said Emad Kamil Rahim, a local hospital official.

9. CNN has 902
Two Marines and two U.S. soldiers were killed in action Tuesday in Anbar province, according to coalition statements.

Their deaths bring the number of U.S. troops killed in the Iraq war to 902, including 669 in combat.

Two Marines assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force were killed while conducting "security and stability operations."

The slain soldiers were attached to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, the coalition said.

The coaliton says the two Marines were killed in separate incidents. It's not clear if the soldiers' deaths were connected to either of those incidents.

Sprawling Anbar province, which includes the restive cities of Ramadi and Fallujah, has been the scene of fierce fighting.

The names of the those killed were being withheld pending next of kin notification.

14. icasualties has now updated to show 900
Strange that CNN has it at 902, as the corporate media tends to lag a little behind the icasualties website.

23. Why is Bush smiling all day when our children are dying by the hour?
Isn't some wording of this question a fair question for a moral reporter to ask Bush? 'Mr. pResident, I see you smile every day and all day long. Do you think about the children who have died and will die in Iraq and how do you smile when you know of this serious loss of our children's lives?'

'Follow up question; Do you think if you had taken less vacation over the years the 900 dead children plus 10,000 plus amputees would have been in the range of 10s instead?'

2. How many more, America?
How the fuck many more for a lie?

It may not be "news" these days, but your children are still dying for those goddamned lies.

You're nowhere near pissed off enough.

3. Disgusting
This war needs to come to an end.

All Kerry has to do as president is privately ask the Iraqis to ask us to leave. Then we leave. That way we can "save face" and preserve American "honor" for all those Red staters to whom that kind of symbolic nonsense is important. Though I could care less.

13. It was 1 Marine at the noon news. Then I walked into a fire-fight.
Two Marines dead as I ate BBQ chicken and swilled Shiraz at dinner. Now it is four. I am deep-cycling into a fearful rut. This news overwhelms me. More wine. Someone today, in a shop in Brevard (back when it was "just" one Marine dead), equivocated. He equivocated in a way that sent me in a rant that could have gotten me locked up. He said, in my hearing and for me (I had on my Kerry hat), that the casualties in Iraq are insignificant and can't be compared to Vietnam. I countered that 1000 deaths in a year to a troop strength of 140,000 might well, and soon, compare to the 58,000 deaths over a decade with troop strengths nearing half a million in the glory days of 'Nam. I won. He slinked off.

More Shiraz. Kill the pain of this fucking war. Please. One was enough. One war, I mean. More Shiraz, please.

15. I myself am drinking Merlot
It does not numb the pain, but helps me sleep. I am so angry and appalled at the stupidity and uselessness of all this, I can't even articulate it anymore. Another Marine from our state died over the weekend, and our Governor ordered all flags at state facilities lowered to half staff. He also attends every funeral for our fallen youth. I noticed last night that the Lehrer report showed photos and names of the military killed in action. Need to write to express my admiration and appreciation. Meanwhile, I pray that my 16-year-old stepgrandaughter, 13-year-old stepgrandson and grandsons, ages 10 and 7, do not find themselves sent off to die in one of Bush's misbegotten wars. You know what? I'll die before I let that happen.

Maybe it's the Merlot talking. Or the tears.

Bush MUST GO!!!

16. Thanks, dear "Class of 56"
We are obviously in this together. We are obviously in harmony on our outspoken opposition to the Bu$h Expeditionary Force in the Mid-East. Only one question remains. Who hates Bu$h more, you or I? I say, it is I. Trump me, if you can.

19. Wow, that's a tough one!
You are a Vietnam vet, I see from your profile, and I defer to you totally in that regard. I do have a relative who was a helicopter pilot there, shot in the head, survived, sent home, retired military, and is still with us. I supported that stupid war going in, then the lights went on, as they say. So sorry for all the losses there. Such abject sadness...hard for me to express now. Bush Expeditionary Force--that is a great designation. I am working actively to defeat Bush, wondering just what in the hell I'm going to do if he pulls this one out of the hat (he can't win without his cronies engaging in underhanded actions). I am very vocal, engaging in rants on occasion that get a bit out of hand. Oh, damn, here we go...

I HATE BUSH WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING!!

Whew! Got that outa my system. Not trying to trump you--just trying to express my disdain for this miserable excuse for a human being whose very existence is an insult.

Say--one of my cousins traced the family tree pretty far back and some were from North Carolina, ended up in Texas. Sadly, I think they were Republicans! Well, back to the Merlot.

18. America cannot save face after we tortured Iraqis and after we
attacked an innocent country, killing 1000s of its citizens for lies and oil. We allowed the nuclear sites to be plundered; we spread deadly uranium over the country in our horrific bombs; we colluded in the ravage of some of history's most significant treasures; we are an a_s.

24. Bush had to much good news to mention kias.
"Oh, I know, you're probably here thinking I'm going to spend most of the time attacking my opponent," Bush told the perspiring partisans in a sweltering gymnasium. "I've got too much good to talk about."

I still maintain Nixon was a worse president because he killed 600,000 Cambodians and trashed a 150 year Democracy in Chile, but Bush is the most obnoxious asshole ever.

27. ugh
...and on another day when our sons are being slaughtered, the AOL Welcome Screen has a darling little story link about how Jenna Bush 'cracked up' the media when she stuck her tongue out at them from Daddy's limo. Yes, our media 'cracks up' in laughter when they're insulted by a brainless 21 year old.

THIS is the news of the day. Not our war dead. America is lost.
