This time, poll has candidates tied in Arizona

In results that make "Who's winning?" an even murkier question, the latest poll of Arizona voters erases the sizable advantage President Bush supposedly held over John Kerry in the past few weeks.

Kerry has wound up ahead, although in a statistical tie, for the first time.

The statewide poll by Arizona State University indicated Tuesday that instead of trailing Bush by 12 points, as shown in the same pollster's results just three weeks earlier, or by 10 points, as logged by a different organization two weeks ago, the Democrat has edged ahead, 42 percent to 41 percent, with 17 percent undecided.

The findings undermined Republicans' recent assertions that Arizona, long considered one of 13 to 21 swing states crucial to the Nov. 2 outcome, might not be "in play."

1. Unfortunatly, an ASU poll is extremely inferior to other polls
however, it's still good news, and I do not think Bush is leading by much in Arizona, but I still think it leans slightly more to him than to Kerry.

3. Don't bet on it. We lead the Repugs in voter registration
and for the first time the repugs are losing numbers. And of the 250 Women for Kerry events held across the nationlast Sat. 50 were in AZ. Az is going blue!

8. Bush hoped to win votes with his big drug company give-away
on Medicare prescriptions.

I hope the seniors in AZ are wising up to this fraud and will vote against Bush

9. I live in rural AZ, big time Shrub country
and I have seen WAAAAAY more Kerry bumper stickers than Shrub ones. This is a first. Normally the repuke bumper stickers outnumber the Dem ones like 20 to one. I've talked to lifelong repukes too and most of them aren't voting for him again.

10. I live in Alaska a solid Republican state and have seen zero Bush*
Bumper stickers or yard signs either for that matter but more and more Kerry/Edwards signs showing up daily. It is a promising sign. Maybe people just don't want to be eager to show off their stupidity. You have to think you are more stupid than Bush* to vote for him and that is a hard pill for them to swallow.

11. Both AZ and NV present opportunities
for the Kerry campaign. Bush is very vulnerable in NV due to the controversy of the nuclear waste dump. NV went for Clinton barely twice. Gore lost by about 3%. This should be tight with some effort by Kerry. Likewise AZ is trending DEM as the demographics change with increased Hispanic population and continuing influx of social liberals/moderates from SoCal.
Gonna be interesting. Kerry can actually eke out an EV win by holding the Gore states and adding these two despite again losing NH, WV, FL, OH, and MO as in 2000 (which I don't think will happen this year). All in all, bad news for Bush trying to shore up these two and CO plus make a run at NM. Off the table for Bush out West are: HI, CA, OR, WA although they may make a misguided effort in OR and WA.

12. Napolitano's election proves
the importance of GOTV and registration. She was running neck and neck with a mad repuke in 2002, and Terry McAuliffe, to his credit, sent a bunch of last-minute money into Tucson to help get out the Latino vote. Tucson ended up providing the margin of victory in a squeaker.

If we can inspire Latinos to register and vote relative to their numbers, we can take it away from the Lizards for good!
