18. Imagine if we could view a daily wrap up of Repub talking points in a
montage of video and audio clips!

It would be such a public service - done the day after - and would so deflate the effect this crap has on our people. We the people, I mean.

31. The Daily Show did just that
It was a hoot. Five or six administration talking heads in a row all mouthing the words "out of the mainstream" on CNN, CNBC, Larry King, and of course, Faux. After each machine gun repetition of a talking point, they'd come back to Jon Stewart, who'd say, "You know, I'm beginning to think {insert talking point}."

So, you'll hear for the next 24-48 hours how what Sandy Berger did eight months ago is a crisis in national security. Some gullibles will actually believe it.

20. Meanwhile, back at the Smithsonian
there is a clock
http://americanhistory.si.edu/september11/collection/record.asp?ID=19
which allegedly stopped at the instant the Pentagon was hit.
Why, I do not know. Other clocks kept going.

Anyway, this clock was removed from the Pentagon
by a so-called firefighter
by the name of Dennis Young
who did little, other than preside over the incineration of TWO Pentagon firetrucks.
Dennis Young is NOT a Pentagon staff person
but is rather a civilian
who was "helping out" on that particular day.
Dennis Young is stationed at Fort Meyer.

This clock is STOLEN Federal Property.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=125&topic_id=13460&mesg_id=14540&page=

And if I am reading this
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/casecode/uscodes/18/parts/i/chapters/31/sections/section_641.html
correctly,
Sandy Berger gets a walk whereas Dennis Young gets jail-time.

I presume it applies specifically to classified federal documents and government employees.

9. This is merely an attempt to distract from the 9/11 report
Besides, the GOP always overreaches in these things, claiming the sky is falling when it isn't. By tomorrow, the 9/11 report will blow this out of the water.

10. character assasination
"A Kerry campaign memo charges, "The timing of the Berger leak has been criticized by Republican elders like David Gergen as being particularly suspicious given the fact that the 9/11 Commission is poised to release its report on Thursday," and seeks to tie Cheney and RNC chairman Ed Gillespie to the leak. "Halliburton Cheney and Enron Ed Gillespie were reportedly spotted on Tuesday meeting with Senate Republicans at their weekly lunch. After that lunch, Senators Saxby Chambliss, Gordon Smith, and Rick Santorum, among others, launched a scurrilous effort to smear the Kerry Campaign by making the absurd argument that Berger gave classified documents to the campaign to use in a port security speech. Were they in fact at the lunch? What happened at that lunch? What was it that Cheney and Gillespie said?"

Look at the scumbags who leaked this; Smith, Chambliss, Santorum

Every day brings a new outrage from the Bushists.

I say when we win the White House and the Senate, we must not make peace with the Bushists. Fuck them. Strip them of as much power as possible. Shut them out. They are evil shits who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near power.

Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 11:49 AM by Ravy
If the documents were so harmful to our nation's security, why did the people in charge of the archives WATCH him take them out of the facility?

Did they say anything to him? Did he outrun them? Was that dastardly Spiderman somehone involved?

29. IMHO, if Berger had Natl Security clearance once, he's no threat
Considering it was Berger who warned the Bush Admin about the rising tide of Al Queda terrorism, Delay's commets are worthless.

It would be nice to see more Dems stick up for Berger though.

30. Delay was probably anxious
to get his face on TV over something other than Ethic Charges being filed against his and the on-going Criminal Investigation in Texas over money-laundering and illegal campaign contributions.

He'll probably be polite enough to send Sandy Berger a "Thank-You Note". <sarcasm off>

34. I don't know who is more disgusting, DeLay or Saxby Chambliss
Yesterday a couple of GOP senators, namely Gordon Smith (OR) and Saxby Chambliss (GA), promptly jumped on the Berger story and suggested to the press that Berger used the documents to provide critical material to John Kerry. Of course, as The Washington Post notes, neither Smith nor Chambliss provided any proof for the claims.

Then the horse's ass -- oh, I'm sorry -- Senator Chambliss made a reference to "the Kerry administration." Way to Freudian slip, S.C.!

You'll recall that Saxby Chambliss was the one who campaigned against Max Cleland by using claims that the then-senator was unpatriotic for not supporting Bush's particular version of the Homeland Security bill -- never mind that Bush himself had opposed the creation of such a department and only wanted a version of it in which fewer rights (i.e., less power to bargaining collectively, etc.) were afforded afforded to employees.

Anyway, during that particular campaign, even Zell Miller was disgusted by Chambliss's advertisements and helped with the counter-advertising. If there were any justice on this Earth, both DeLay and Chambliss would have to live their waking hours at the bottom of a privy.
