WASHINGTON - At least 13 relatives of Osama bin Laden, accompanied by bodyguards and associates, were allowed to leave the United States on a charter flight eight days after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, according to a passenger manifest released Wednesday.

... The passenger list was made public by Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., who obtained the manifest from officials at Boston's Logan airport. Lautenberg's office was given the document in recent weeks and released it Wednesday in advance of Thursday's issuance of the final report of the commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks.

Though much was already known about the so-called "bin Laden flight," Lautenberg provided additional details, including the information that the plane, a 727 owned by DB Air and operated by Ryan International, began in Los Angeles and made stops in Orlando, Dulles and Boston before continuing on to Gander, Newfoundland, Paris, Geneva and Jeddah. The aircraft, tail number N521DB, has been chartered frequently by the White House for the press corps that travels with President Bush.

... Dale Watson, former FBI counterterrorism chief, said Wednesday that FBI agents "scrubbed the people who were leaving and I was informed none of them were anybody we needed to detain or not allow to leave."

32. Hello
I have been on Free Republic twice, both thru links provided here. I get a kick out of reading the forums, and often disagree. I tried to participate once before and was tagged a freeper (I had to look it up), was locked out and all my posts were deleted. I sent an email to get some clarification as to why, and how one or two folks could categorize me so quickly and then have me banished, but got no response.

I guess the point is, that by someone's definition, I am a freeper (but not by mine).

You ask a question, I love spirited debate and am willing to answer.

Am I welcome to participate ?? I have read the rules and can comply - unfortunately some folks might not like my opinions.

At least let me know if this should be my first and last post before I am summarily deleted from the board.

(I thought this message was pretty polite - curious as to anyone's response)

Finally, I would like to answer your question, but you may not actually want an answer.......

42. Bring it On
Let's hear what you have to say. You believe family members of the most wanted man in the world are not of any interest to American intelligence. Why don't we rape their children in front of them to get the answers we want? It has been deemed only equivilent to college hazing and quite appropriate by this administration.

not allowed to reply, I was banished without warning or cause (I DID say I have read the rules and can comply). Any response of mine would probably just annoy some touchy individuals (not the mods, they are only here to do their job.....)

The main republican/freeper response has been: "Bin Laden's family was NOT flown out, it's a lie, prove it"

Please read the above article.

I'll await any disagreement.

anyway, I've never said that their leaving was a lie - however, Clarke did approve which means there was a major systemic failure, not necessarily a conspiracy. I don't like Lautenberg, think he was just trying to justify his salary/position with the info.

BTW have you read about the 14 Syrian "musicians" alledgedly doing a dry run on the Det to LA flight (google womens wall street northwest detroit). Funny thing is that after a 2 hour long grilling, they were released - unfortunately, no one caught that their visas had already expired.......... explain that one.....

Many of the evil doers were cutting their political teeth during the misadventures of Noxon's (C)ommittee to (Re-E)lect the (P)resident.

Watergate and Iran-Contra taught them a lot about how to manage an administration.

Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 07:32 PM by Kanzeon
The flight manifest lists 13 people with the bin Laden surname and others with Brazilian, British, Indonesian and Yemeni passports. Passenger Omar Awad bin Laden had lived with Abdullah bin Laden, a nephew of Osama bin Laden who was involved in forming the U.S. branch of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth in Alexandria, Va. Federal agents raided the office this spring in connection with a terrorism-related investigation. The FBI has described the group as "a suspected terrorist organization."

And they said these people weren't terrorist- related?

Now which is it?

Either the Fed raid was bogus, or the Bush dictatorship let terrorist collaborators go!

And Michael Moore was right!

snip>
As somebody who's been in the business of making decisions, to me the most powerful question presented was whether it was appropriate to send the bin Ladens -- and the other Saudis -- without interrogating them first. There's no question that most of family deplores what he did. But, on the other hand, it's highly likely that somebody knew something that could be of value.

18. Ya Know what about Americans Fears that week
I'm freaking tired of hearing about Saudis Fears

they were in America

they had nothing to fear unless they were guilty

and thats what this says Get out of Dodge ...It was an escape and Bush Helped them

He gave more help to the Saudis than he did the New Yorkers those minutes he was reading My Pet Goat

all it would have taken was get off his A$$ and call the pilots and stop that second plane

An even dozen. They could have laid low or been kept in protective custody. Clearly, there was no fear that U.S. citizens would march on them with pitchforks and torches, like villagers in some old movie. There is plenty more to this.

24. The White House press plane ?!@#!!
Friggin' amazing--and that's new info to me anyway.

Who else did the White House actually help after 9/11? Sure wasn't NY.

Also, some notes-- Shafig Binladen is the guy who was at the Carlye mtg w/Sr. His destination is Geneva (straight to the bank? He might live there actually).

And there are other BinLadens (binladin's. bin ladens, whatever). Like Waffa, who lived in NY a mile from WTC, now in London trying to sell cds. What plane was she on? I seem to remember reading there were a lot more Saudis and possibly more binladens?

From a brief google, al Mawdudi (note the changed spelling vs. manifest) is the name of the founder of a Pakistani radical jihad group. Sounds like his kids made the flight.

Fun page on him: http://www.nmhschool.org/tthornton/sayyid_abu.htm

Akberali Mohamed Ali Moawalla also appears to be a big money guy. British passport and destination France, he is a director of several companies in the UK, Bahamas and a part of Saudi binLadin co. in Malaysia (if I'm getting this right from a French page I found).

Couple more names to look up there...

<Among the other passengers was Osama bin Laden half-brother Shafig Bin Laden, who reportedly was attending the annual investor conference of the Carlyle Group, a politically connected investment company in Washington on Sept. 11, 2001. Also on board was Akberali Moawalla, an official with the investment company run by Yeslam bin Laden, another half brother of Osama. Records show that another passenger, Kholoud Kurdi, lived in Northern Virginia with a bin Laden family member.>>

Why not a private chartered jet paid for by the Saudis? Or did the Saudis pay the White House? I had a friend that was stuck in Germany and could not get home - even though her son had been shot and killed in a gang activity. Perhaps she should have called someone at the White House and gotten a free flight home???

41. My memory is getting more cloudy the older I get; however,
I could have sworn on 9/11 itself, the media were showing pictures (through a large, chain-link fence), of the Bin Laden family unloading their limos hurriedly (or their servants), and the news person reporting stating that they were being removed from the Country for their own safety.

Now, does anyone else remember that??????

The act seems clear as day to me and the media has it (Fox News), however, the day it happened, is not clear. I watched all of it as it happened all day. Those of you who did not get to see it live, be thankful because there has been a lot of media editing to get rid of some of the gore.

If you are interested in seeing it live as it happened, most media Networks charge $40.00 an hour of live news footage. That could add up to a lot. However, I checked this back in 2001. I do not know if it is available anymore????

65. Yes I do Frank.........
been hesitant to say so though cause no one else had brought it up. Glad I'm not alone on this. It has gone through my mind all day today that I KNOW this was mentioned either the day of or the day AFTER the plane ride out of the country.

50. Who Made "The Request" That Clark Approved?????
Two glaring questions:

1.) Who made the "request" that Richard Clark approved?

2.) If the Administration was really believing that Iraq was behind the attack, then why was there any urgency to protect Saudis within the United States who were related to Osama?

53. this even goes beyond what Michael Moore said
>The U.S. government had allowed at least one domestic flight before commercial airspace had been reopened for Saudis who feared for their safety, Lautenberg's staff said.<

Michael Moore, on TV, said at least one domestic flight before *private planes* allowed to fly, but after commercial ones. This goes beyond that. I think some people owe Michael Moore an apology.

54. Wow!! This is a load for the American people to hear about
"Among the other passengers was Osama bin Laden half-brother Shafig Bin Laden, who reportedly was attending the annual investor conference of the Carlyle Group, a politically connected investment company in Washington on Sept. 11, 2001. Also on board was Akberali Moawalla, an official with the investment company run by Yeslam bin Laden, another half brother of Osama. Records show that another passenger, Kholoud Kurdi, lived in Northern Virginia with a bin Laden family member."

No wonder one one wanted to talk about these bin Laden's flying out of the country.
