MITSUBISHI JOB CUTS (1200 jobs Normal, IL)
http://www.wandtv.com/SendPage.asp?5410

Mitsubishi is cutting 12-hundred jobs at the plant in Normal.

The Japanese automaker.. which has been battling losses from bad credit and recall scandals.. says production will be cut from two shifts to one in October.

Executive Director of the Economic Development Council of the Bloomington-Normal area says.. the local impact of the layoffs will be eased because many workers commute from other cities.

...very short newsblurb...

2. But
Our president says he's been creating gobs of great new jobs, so I'm sure all those workers will be snatched up immediately by all the local employers anxious to pay them high wages.

3. That Economic Development Exec has a job waiting for him at BushCo
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 10:30 PM by xray s
Anyone who can spin bullshit like that can easily pull down $150,000 at a right-wing think tank in DC.

What a maroon. Commute from "other cities"? What, does the shock absorber guy fly in from LA every day?

Those people live in Bloomington Normal, or in some of the small towns that surround Bloomington Normal, and they all shop in Bloomington Normal (or at least they used to).

Repuke economics :puke:

4. Isn't Karen Hughes' book "Ten Minutes From Normal" about this town?
Didn't she and Bush go campaign and convice those poor people that Bush was going to do all these wonderful things for them. Now their lives are ruined. Maybe Karen and Bush should stay away from anyone who needs a job. They are poison.

5. You never know
what will happen when we merge US and other countries.

Its very complicated. I hope the displaced workers can find new work soon.

6. Hopefully someone will buy them
because they have some major problems, i think they will get sucked up by another car co. and hopefully these people can get their jobs back. The management of that company should be put in prison.

9. correct me if my memory is bad but didn't they get a huge tax break
to locate there in the first place? did they ever employ as many people as originally promised before they decided who the high bider was for their corp tax break? It's hard to not be cynical isn't it?
