Canadian PM pledges to decriminalize possession of marijuana
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 08:32 AM by truthspeaker
I wish some of that sanity up there would leak south.

Prime Minister Paul Martin pledged to reintroduce legislation this year to decriminalize the possession and use of small amounts of marijuana.

There had been rumours that, under pressure from the United States, the new Martin government would let the legislation fall.

Parliament failed to get the legislation through before it was dissolved prior to the June 28 election which saw Martin's government reelected, but without a majority in Parliament.

Meeting with reporters after the first formal meeting of his new cabinet, Martin said "the legislation will be reintroduced this fall."

1. The Canadian PM has no heart. How does he expect...
...drug runners to get the cash to buy guns if their income is cut off? What a mean man....

2. Don't forget the potential loss to the prison business
Who knows, some prisons might have to shut down for lack of business.

It's un-American I say. It's probably a plot by those Molson-drinking socialists. :silly:

3. Its about time Paul...
Pass that shit through. Screw the U.S. and what they think. We all know they'll flood up here by the hundreds of thousands to enjoy some B.C. greens... And hey that's good for the economy...

6. They cannot do that
MJ prohibition is the bellweather peice of social control. If you can't stop people from using a drug that is less harmful than alchol, then the bigger peices of fear based social control will slip as well.

It is part of the core trance of the freeper, it cannot be replaced like a national enemy. It is the evil other, that makes you a bad person, a criminal non-voter.

Canada will be brutally slapped for this by the admin.

7. Slap away. We'll have to make it up with our tourist dollars
I love travelling in Canada anyway, and now I have even more reason to support them. (I suspect the price of indoor-grown weed will go down when decriminalization makes it less risky).
