Kerry, Bush about even in new Missouri poll
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/local/9216234.htm?1c

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Voters in the battleground state of Missouri are torn between President Bush and Democrat John Kerry, according to a poll published Thursday that shows the candidates about even.

The Massachusetts senator is ahead in the poll, 46 percent to 44 percent, but that is within the margin of error of 4 percentage points. Independent Ralph Nader was supported by just 1 percent, with 9 percent undecided.

<snip>

The poll also found that 41 percent of respondents have an unfavorable opinion of Cheney, while 39 percent view the vice president favorably and 20 percent have no opinion. Kerry's running mate, North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, was seen favorably by 51 percent, unfavorably by 20 percent, while 29 percent did not know.

Kerry did better than Bush among the respondents on the issues of protecting the middle class, improving health care, keeping America prosperous, improving education, holding down federal spending, strengthening Social Security and creating jobs.

<snip>

On the country's direction, 45 percent described themselves as "worried," 32 percent "optimistic," 12 percent "angry," 8 percent "satisfied" and 3 percent unsure.

...more...

Once again, the media spins this a bit as "tied" or "even" when Kerry leads *Co - yes, there is that "EOM", but it works both friggin' ways!

2. seems like Missouri
is 50% Texan and 50% Northeastern. The geographic center of population in the US is South central Missouri.

4. Something to keep in mind
Political analyst Charles Cook says the race isn't really tied because the undecideds will go overwhelmingly for Kerry. That goes for Missouri, where you have Bush at 44 percent when he got 50 percent in 2000. Not good for him at all.

5. If Bush doesn't win both MO and OH, he will have a very tough
time winning....even with the USSC on his side.

6. am working hard here to educate all Missourians
:D

I have been told by several people that I have a pretty good track record at informing them of what is happening and that at least 2 counties that voted for *Co in 2000 will not be doing it this year.

(my local print only paper carries my political opinion column on a weekly basis :) )

7. Political Column
Good for you! And you have proven my impression that there are many persons here at DU who must have journalism and high academic credentials who keep us much, much better informed than the so-called news media. I have found DU to be much more up-to-the-minute news wise than the usual outlets.

13. Yes! We are working hard to get the TRUTH out about.....
the jokers in the WH. The "economy" is NOT as good as they say for a growing number of Missourians (Americans for that matter!). Shrub irritated many a few days ago when he visited St. Louis. They had
I-70 shut down during rush hour for the Liar's motorcade. Plus.. the web of deceit is beginning to unravel. Some are beginning to awaken to this bad dream. Hopefully, enough will wake up before it is too late for us all.
