FBI Probes Report Group Planning Convention Attack
Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 10:14 AM by cal04
The FBI (news - web sites) said on Friday it was probing "unconfirmed information" that a domestic group is planning to disrupt next week's Democratic National Convention by attacking media vehicles with explosives or incendiary devices

7. I had wondered if protestors would get more media attention than Kerry
and the Dems, and so far the anti-Kerry folks are succeeding in dominating the media coverage

17. You'd think so, wouldn't you?
What you're forgetting is that only people who attack Republicans can be labeled as terrorists. Anybody who disrupts the Democratic convention will be referred to as "rambunctious" (sp?), "overzealous", or "patriots freely expressing their distaste with the left-wingnuts attempting to take over our country".

18. I perused the FreeRepublic and just by reviewing the threads
and post, they seem to have a very bad mean streak in them. I mean they do not seem to post anything that one could say is a bipartisan stance. and I did not see one compassionate post/thread on their that shows these people have other concerns, other than hating all the Dems. I am very active in my community when it comes to abuse of animals, women, elderly, etc... but I do not see much compassion for these people in that forum. The site should be called the BashDems.com

9. Sounds like a terrorist threat to me. Arrest the neocons and send them to
Gitmo immediately! If we are living by Bush's policy we don't require any concrete evidence of an attack to launch a pre-emptive strike.

12. Should we expect another "Brooks Brothers Riot"?
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2002/080502a.html

excerpt:

Only a handful of the Brooks Brothers rioters were publicly identified, some through photographs published in the Washington Post. Jake Tapper’s book on the recount battle, Down and Dirty, provides a list of 12 Republican operatives who took part in the Miami riot. Half of those individuals received payments from the Bush recount committee, according to the IRS records.

The Miami protesters who were paid by Bush recount committee were: Matt Schlapp, a Bush staffer who was based in Austin and received $4,276.09; Thomas Pyle, a staff aide to House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, $456; Michael Murphy, a DeLay fund- raiser, $935.12; Garry Malphrus, House majority chief counsel to the House Judiciary subcommittee on criminal justice, $330; Charles Royal, a legislative aide to Rep. Jim DeMint, R-S.C. $391.80; and Kevin Smith, a former GOP House staffer, $373.23.

Three of the Miami protesters are now members of Bush’s White House staff, the Miami Herald reported last month. They include Schlapp, who is now a special assistant to the president; Malphrus, who is now deputy director of the president’s Domestic Policy Council; and Joel Kaplan, another special assistant to the president.

29. Letting media know what happened to hotels favored by media in Iraq
( :nuke: KA-BOOM :nuke: ) could happen to hotels favored by media in Boston? Not unlike the mailing of anthrax only to Dems and certain media people who were at risk for slipping off their choke chains.

I hope to the gods that people start remembering that they are gonna die someday anyway, whether they bend over for these bozos or not and start standing up to the junta bullies.

20. If this is what's going on now
what's going to happen if Kerry is elected??

Judging from the contents of the hate mailbag on the homepage today, it makes me wonder. Those people are close to apoplexy, and the Dems aren't even in power. Geez...if Kerry wins I think a lot of them will just stroke-out within the first couple of hours!

21. I thought William Krar was in jail!
http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=20040311-030156-8181r

WASHINGTON, March 14 (UPI) -- Since his appointment as attorney general, John Ashcroft's Washington office has issued 2,295 news releases. Not one of them has mentioned the name William Joseph Krar.

Krar, who is affiliated with several anti-government, white supremacist militia organizations, was apprehended after mailing a package containing false U.N. credentials, Defense Intelligence Agency IDs, phony birth certificates and a forged federal concealed weapons permit to a co-conspirator in New Jersey.

An alert citizen contacted the FBI, which led to the arrest of Krar and the discovery of a mind-numbing weapons cache: fully automatic machine guns, remote-controlled explosive devices disguised as briefcases, 60 pipe bombs, nearly 500,000 rounds of ammunition and enough pure sodium cyanide "to kill everyone inside a 30,000 square foot building," according to federal authorities.

23. Sounds like something the Protest Worriers might do.
Somebody needs to print up directions to Hooters and distribute to these former high school wrestling jocks who suffered brain damage from spending too much time with their nostrils crushed against the mat.

Plus, they need jobs to keep them busy. Anybody know of any food stores looking to hire grocery baggers?

24. Democrats.com comment on this story
Is Latest Vague 'Terrorist Alert' A Bush Ploy to Sabotage Media Coverage of Democratic Convention?
We ironically ran across this latest vague terrorist warning just after posting an article about how the media is devoting four times more coverage to Bush than to Kerry. The FBI is now darkly warning that an "unnamed domestic terrorism group" plans to attack the media at the Democratic Convention. PULL-EEZE! For one thing, terrorists, esp. the home-grown variety, always rely on having intact newstrucks around, cameras rolling, to record their efforts. Secondly, the simultaneous specificity of this threat (claiming media targets) and vagueness is setting off our "smell test" sensors like alarms! We suspect that if the media is being "attacked" it is by the White House via this "warning," designed to disrupt coverage or provide an excuse for coverage blackouts!

25. Media intimidation by *Co.
From the article:

A spokeswoman for the Boston FBI told Reuters that the bureau had notified media organizations of the probe because they were potential targets....

.....Organizers say some 15,000 media representatives are expected in Boston to cover the convention, where Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) is expected to be nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&e=1&u=/nm/20040723/ts_nm/security_convention_dc

So, the media are the next target, just *in case* they don't tow *'s line. What this tells me is, * is turning against his own mouthpieces (the American media) and can use this fear against them as well as the international media. A two-fer.

How in God's name can we get these criminals out of the WH and into prison before they destroy everything around them? Some well-reported truth by the media would get that ball rolling like nothing else. * knows this, and will do everything he can to muzzle them.

Hang on, people. It's going to be a rough, rough next few months.
