Brevard anxious for Kerry visit

Event to focus on health care

BY JOHN McCARTHY
FLORIDA TODAY

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry is winging into Brevard Sunday for an overnight campaign visit. Former astronaut and U.S. Sen. John Glenn is coming with him.

Hal Hilton of Titusville, a member of Veterans for Kerry, helped set up the visit.

"I certainly feel that there are votes to be had in this area," Hilton said.

Hilton and about 15 other veterans will greet Kerry at the Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville Sunday evening and will join him at a town hall meeting about health care at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Monday.

Don't know about you, but I think it's great Kerry isn't going to let Florida go without a fight! So what if Bushes think they own the place? Cheney them.

1. Kerry will win Florida...............
mark my words. He and Edwards will have to work their asses off, but all of those electoral votes that were handed to Bush in 2000 are going Blue in 2004.

2. you bet they are going to be blue
and it will be the senior citizens and black votes that give it to him. Took friends to see F9-11 yesterday ,and the theater comprised of 98% seniors. We are not a happy group, we see how much our country is changeing. Our friends, of 30 yrs, are conservative, we never much discussed politics together, will not be voting bush. For the first time we had a discussion on politics at dinner after the movie. They are intelligent people and felt that their party has changed greatly.

3. Lots of folks are disgusted
and want a change. My seveny-something in-laws have been voting along Republican lines for several years, but they have had it with Bush and are ready to vote him out. They even went to see F911 on their own(my hubby wasn't sure they'd appreciate it, so he didn't invite them when we went).

4. My aunt and uncle were once republicans
and are in their upport 70s. My uncle has Parkinsins. They are totally disgusted with the stem cell issue and vow never to vote repub again. The stem cell isn't the only issue they have against the dim son and the Dick as they sounded as passionately against them as I am. The seniors are a pissed off group right now and they vote in higher percentage than any age group.

6. Good to hear
I heard a part of one of Bush's speeches and he said he'd give "ownership" of retirement and health care to voters. That is code for getting rid of medicare and social security.
