A massive search of the area began shortly after midnight when a National Guardsman reported that he thought he saw parachutes descending in the vicinity of the Thomas P. O'Neill Federal Building on Causeway Street, which is adjacent to the FleetCenter. State Police used a helicopter with searchlights and infrared cameras to search the roof of the O'Neill building and the surrounding area but found nothing and concluded there had been no incident.

"There is nothing on the roof," said Boston police officer Nadine Taylor-Miller at the joint information center. "We had an unconfirmed report, but they didn't find any people or parachutes."

...military police called in reports just after midnight that two parachutists had landed in the yard of the Charles River Park condominium complex...SWAT teams went to the top of the federal building...Nothing was found and state police said no one was arrested.

I mean, what normally drops out of the sky at midnight that might be mistaken for a parachutist? Somebody suggested it was a SWAT team drill. But the story suggests that they were in dark, too (if you'll pardon the expression), and I'd like to think that they would have given everybody else advance notice. So exactly what DID the military police see? Has the local Domino's come up with a new method of pizza delivery?
