Police Officer in Kerry Motorcade Injured

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - A police officer accompanying Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites)'s motorcade was injured Monday when his motorcycle hit the ground on a roadway, officials said.

The presidential candidate's car turned around and Kerry came back to check on the officer, according to spokesman David Wade. Fire and rescue crews arrived and the motorcade continued to the Kennedy Space Center (news - web sites).

"The officer seemed to be OK," Kerry told reporters.

1. bikers always look out for each other...
when I fell last summer, a Harley rider came to my aid and rode my bike to a safe place.

Got your back covered, is part of the code.

Good for JFK! Bu$h would have put it in reverse and run over him!

4. Ubetcha. "There, but for the grace of Goddess..."
Except for some of the crotch-rocketeers, bikers "provide for the common defense" and offer mutual support. When you're on a bike, you can often recognize another biker temporarily confined to a 4-wheeled metal box. They drive more respectfully.

6. That's why Kerry should go to STURGIS!
Over half a million potential voters are going to converge there!

2. "when his motorcycle hit the ground on a roadway"?
when my brother or husband did that, they called it 'dumping the bike'

Glad the officer is OK. Hope they were all going slow enough that he didn't scrape too hard.

Good on Kerry for checking on him. One biker to another, he was probably feeling for the guy.

5. Happened between 9AM and 10AM this morning.
I was watching Washington Journal and a reporter with Kerry was talking to this mornings host. Suddenly he goes "Hmm.. We seem to have turned around." A few moments later he told everyone that Kerry told them to turn the thing around cause an Officer had fallen and injured himself.

When I heard that I smiled, and told myself: "This is gonna look GREAT in the paper, and of all the places it was in Florida! Woohooo!" (I know, selfish Political thoughts...)

7. You think Bush would have his car turned around to check on a lowly cop?
Nah, he'd just keep driving. Not his problem.

8. Good thing CNN's Cafferty wasn't driving
If I was CNN's director I would make Cafferty cover the Kerry story just for irony.

About five people tried to stop Cafferty by running after the car, waving their arms and yelling, "Hey Stop," according to the complaint, but the newsman allegedly continued through at least two red lights, while dragging the bicycle underneath the vehicle.

Cafferty loves * of course.
