Clintons Vow to Make Kerry Next President

Clintons Vow to Make Kerry Next President

By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent

BOSTON - Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed Monday night to make John Kerry the next president while a parade of party elders at the Democratic National Convention accused President Bush (news - web sites) of botching the economy and the war on terror.

"We Democrats will bring the American people a positive campaign, arguing not who's good and who's bad, but what is the best way to build the safe, prosperous world our children deserve," said the former president in remarks prepared for delivery.

His wife, a first-term New York senator, drew loud cheers from the crowded convention floor when she appeared on a video screen and promised to work hard for Kerry's election.

2. Hillary Rodham Clinton Boosts John Kerry

Hillary Rodham Clinton Boosts John Kerry

By MARC HUMBERT
Associated Press Writer

BOSTON (AP) -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has plenty of her own supporters for the presidency, gave John Kerry a ringing endorsement for the White House Monday night, saying to cheers from the Democratic convention, "I know a great leader when I see one."

With no mention of her own possible ambitions for the office once held by her husband, the former first lady said, with a jab at President Bush, that Kerry "will lead the world, not alienate it, lower the deficit, not raise it."

Delegates greeted her with cheers and lofted "New York Loves Hillary" signs.

Mrs. Clinton called her husband, former President Clinton, onto the convention stage for the opening night finale. The crowd roared, the two hugged and waved.

"He showed Democrats how to win again, and so will John Kerry," she said.

3. Grrr! "liberal" media distortion at work
I listened to BOTH speeches and NEITHER of them claimed the god-like power of "making" Kerry the next pres!!!

This is a subtle way of inciting the Clinton-haters.

Clintons Vow to Make Kerry Next President

By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent

BOSTON - Former President Clinton stirred the opening night of the Democratic National Convention Monday with a summons to send John Kerry to the White House, attacking President Bush for pursuing policies that divide the nation.

"Strength and wisdom are not opposing values," Clinton said of the man who followed him into office.

"They need a divided America but we don't," the former president said of the Republicans who have held power for four years.

The 42nd president was the cleanup speaker for the night, joining a parade of party elders to the podium for oratory designed to depict Kerry as a war hero — and George W. Bush as a failed president.

8. Strange way to make sure Kerry loses...
Must be because the likes of Windbag and his cohorts doing their drugs think that anything that the Clintons do is for the purpose of making sure Kerry loses so that she becomes prez in 2008. But I guess my brain cells aren't being killed off like the windbag.

10. I noticed everything was being freeped while it was breaking
Every story, all the pics. Granted we know that unwashed and feeble minority has more time on its hands.

So while we were actualy watching the conv., some fairly large group of someassholes were rating everything down.

Worth keeping in mind and reminding people to rate 'em like you have dArKeR.

11. Avg Rating: 2.57, 2304 votes - Still being freeped. I feel it is very
strange that only this story has such a low rating! All other about Kerry and the convention are high. All pictures on these stories are rated very high. Is yahoo fudging the stats too?

It is also a different story from the same AP convention guy, which was one of the first live convention stories yesterday.

Now it's:

Kerry Presses Bush to Act on 9/11 Report

By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent

BOSTON - Sen. John Kerry challenged President Bush over the war on terror Tuesday while delegates to the Democratic National Convention hastened to approve a campaign platform calling for a nation that is "strong at home, respected in the world."

....

Here's the end of the url: cvn_convention_rdp

-------

So it's going to be the main convention story roundup story from the AP, and Yahoo has it somehow so that it will have a low rating.
