U.S. Indicts Muslim Charity in Texas
DALLAS -- A Muslim charity that was shut down after federal authorities accused it of being terrorism's financial arm was charged Tuesday with conspiracy, dealing with terrorists and money laundering.

The Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, its executive director, its chairman and five other men were named in the 42-count federal indictment unsealed Tuesday.

The indictment alleges count or counts of conspiracy, providing support to a foreign terrorist organization, conspiracy to deal in the property of a terrorist and dealing in the property of a specially designated terrorist.
...
On Monday, the foundation filed a complaint with the inspector general of the Justice Department and asked for an investigation because it claimed the FBI fabricated its case.
...
The indictment charges that Holy Land provided financial aid to the militant group Hamas as far back as 1988.....
"If these are related to transactions in '88 and '89, that is six years before Hamas committed its first terrorist acts and seven years before Hamas was declared a terrorist organization," Boyd said.

2. Holy Land Foundation's ties to Republicans
Rep. John E. Sununu of New Hampshire, who is painted by opponents as too pro-Palestinian, held a fund-raiser Wednesday night in the Washington suburb of Potomac, Md., that was partly hosted by Arab-Americans.

Ziad Asali of Taylorville, Ill., a native Palestinian who is president of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, was listed as a host of the $250-a-ticket Sununu reception. A more controversial host was George Salem, a Washington lawyer and longtime Republican activist. He has represented the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, whose assets were frozen by President Bush for funding the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas. Salem continues to have strong White House ties and has not been accused of wrongdoing.

Norquist has also been exposed as the founder of the Islamic Institute, a group believed to be funded by foreign governments, Wahhab Islam elements in Saudi Arabia, and U.S. Muslim groups recently raided by a special Treasury Department task force for funding Al Qaeda and Palestinian terrorists.

Key members of the Islamic Institute have come from Alamoudi's organization. One has acknowledged making contributions to the Holy Land Foundation even after it's U.S. offices were shut down by the U.S. government for funding terrorists.

3. I wonder if the group led by Norquist...
has a nexus with, or is one of, the groups Sybil Edmonds has been talking about.

Although, I took this second article from Citizen Soldier with a block of salt -- instead focusing on the information it presented -- because, from exploring the website, it appears to be a "Christian" fundamentalist group. Not a defense of Norquist, though, but Frank Gaffney is just as sleazy as Norquist.

5. The Holy Land Foundation's lawyer is a Bush Advisor
"Holy Land Foundation attorney and Bush Advisor, George Salem went to George W, without much success, on behalf of Holy Land. Salem was also featured prominently in a photo op, as noted in Part One, with George W's Energy Secretary, the former Republican Senator Spencer Abraham."

Just want to be fair and balanced.
