Australian Military Ban Fahrenheit
The Australian Defense Force has banned the screening of Fahrenheit 9/11 on all of the country's military bases, the Sydney Morning Herald reported today.

The Australian Defence Force stands accused of censorship after it banned the showing of the inflammatory anti-war blockbuster Fahrenheit 9/11 on military bases, despite requests direct to the distributor from serving personnel.

The film's distributor, Hopscotch, confirmed yesterday that a soldier had approached it for a copy of Michael Moore's film to show at a military base cinema.

Hopscotch offered it free and the immediate superiors of the soldier - who worked at the cinema - approved the showing.

But the request was rejected last Wednesday by Defence headquarters in Canberra, which has since banned the film at all bases.

Australia's government seems to, like the UK, follow Bush's lead on many issues. Pathetic!

3. Only means more publicity
This one's going to backfire on them. Somehow, right-wingers don't truly understand the term "ignorance is bliss." Now, they have piqued everyone's interest, and many more will find a way to see the film off base or in private showings.

At least the Aussie right wingers are consistent with the behavior of their U.S. brethren.
