Give Up 'Delusional Hope' of Iraq WMD, Kay Says

Leaders of U.S. intelligence agencies must recognize, "Duh, we've failed, therefore we have to change," Kay said. He said he was optimistic that change could occur.

No, it's not from the Onion. This is a Reuters story.

1. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
I would laugh if this weren't so tragic. Chimp standing in front of that fake WH press crowd before the invasion answering "questions" about
that baaaad Saddam and his baaaaad WMD.

That also describes Dubya's thoughts on November.

24. The way Kay Harped
about Iraq's WMDs I think we all thought he was along for the ride; however, kay has proven himself to be a real man who admitted that he and the rest of the world was wrong. There is alot of honor in someone who swallows his pride and accept responsibility for their errors.

Too bad most Republicans can't do the same.

10. Interesting. The hope is "delusional" not "false."
Assuming that Kay is a person who chooses his words carefully, he made a critical distinction in calling the Bush Administration's thinking on WMDs as "delusional hope" and not "false hope." "Delusional" conveys so much more....what's the word....psychosis.

14. Who do you figure he's talking about?
I can't think when the last time a policy maker or spokesperson has said we might find what we went there to get.

12. Yes, so sad.
But when one believes that brown skin = less than human, not only does one think that they couldn't possibly resist effectively, one also feels no restraint when the idea of torture comes up.

13. Yeah- I'm sad that anyone dies...
...American or otherwise-of course I'm going to naturally feel more empathy to Americans so it came out in that post... all the killing over there seems so senseless at this point...

18. Syria
Politics aside, if that is even possible anymore. I am worried about something Kay said not very long ago.....

Kay said that many trucks went to Syria, no question Saddam was after this stuff, I think it is really stupid to go around saying nothing was going on. Mark my words, this is going to come back and bite a lot of people on the ass, October surprise.

This issue is not resolved yet. Kays own words....

http://tinyurl.com/2xpgd

"We are not talking about a large stockpile of weapons," he said. "But we know from some of the interrogations of former Iraqi officials that a lot of material went to Syria before the war, including some components of Saddam's WMD programme. Precisely what went to Syria, and what has happened to it, is a major issue that needs to be resolved."

19. Good as Bush says, 'Bring It On'
Then we can see the tape of his mocking humor about looking for WMD in the oval office again. If it was so funny then, why save the last laugh now?

No, this little bastard wants yet another war and he'll have it his way with a lie or the "truth". He isn't done tormenting the American public. Remember, he's elite, we're not his base, we're his hired help.

21. But why didn't the officials know what went there?
Does this mean they were just passing on rumours inside the Iraqi government? If these officials had been involved in sending the 'stuff' (and that's as specific as this gets), then they'd have been able to specify, rather than leaving Kay in the dark.

20. This a pretty damning appraisal of Bush as much as Tenet
"If you're on such friendly terms with the president that you can answer a concern the president may have about the quality about your intelligence with a trite sports cliche 'It's a slam dunk' and the president or the national security adviser don't come down your throat, you're way too close to power," he said.
