Mallove slaying may be linked
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 01:39 AM by seemslikeadream
Dr. Eugene Mallove was the President of the nonprofit New Energy Foundation, Inc. and held the position of Editor-in-Chief of Infinite Energy Magazine since 1995. Dr. Mallove held a Master of Science Degree and Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from MIT and a Science Doctorate in Environmental Health Sciences from Harvard University. Dr. Mallove had broad experience in high technology engineering companies including Hughes Research Laboratories, TASC (The Analytic Science Corporation), and MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

Since 1991 he worked as a consultant to U.S. corporations and investment firms doing and planning R & D in new energy. He taught science journalism at MIT and at Boston University, and he was Chief Science Writer at the MIT News Office when cold fusion erupted. Prior to that, he was a top science writer and broadcaster with the Voice of America in Washington, DC. He was also the author of three science books and wrote several science and technology articles for magazines and newspapers.

NORWICH -- City police are exploring a link in the beating deaths of two men, in Norwich and Pawcatuck, that occurred under similar circumstances.

Three months have passed without an arrest in the slaying of world-renowned scientist and Norwich native Dr. Eugene Mallove, 56, of New Hampshire.

He was discovered at 10:55 p.m. May 14 at his family-owned home at 119 Salem Turnpike in Norwich. He died of multiple injuries to the head and neck during a suspected robbery.

About 25 miles away in Pawcatuck on the same night, Stonington police found the badly beaten body of A. Gordon Jeffrey, 89, who died several weeks after the suspected robbery.

Scientist's violent death shocks cold fusion research network
July 27, 2004

Eugene Mallove, one of cold fusion's most ardent advocates, was overjoyed in April when the US Department of Energy agreed to give the scorned subject another review. To him, it was a breakthrough: Years of work trying to get mainstream science to pay attention to cold fusion seemed to be paying off.

But a month later, on May 14, Mallove was dead, brutally murdered at his childhood home in Norwich, Conn,

Police, who have not yet made an arrest in the murder, have no evidence Mallove's cold fusion work contributed to his death -- they believe it was an act of random violence. To still-reeling friends, family, and colleagues, however, Mallove's death was particularly cruel because he was so optimistic that cold fusion was finally going to get its just review.

''My father was so passionate about doing what he felt was right (even though) everywhere he turned doors were shut in his face," said his daughter Kimberlyn Woodard. She used to affectionately call her father the ''mad scientist" for the experiments he always had going in their home's basement. ''He was a brilliant man, he could have worked anywhere he chose and he gave that up because of the possibility there was something to cold fusion," she said.

Mallove, 56, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate, was chief science writer at MIT when the cold fusion debacle exploded in 1989. Skeptical at first, he soon became a believer and grew increasingly frustrated with the scientific establishment's refusal to reexamine cold fusion. Finally, in 1991, he quit, disgusted with what he saw as mainstream scientists' unwillingness to look seriously at cold fusion.

The Significance of Dr. Eugene Mallove's graceful tenacity, integrity, and intent
by Leslie R. Pastor <email >
May 20, 2004

Dr. Eugene Mallove http://www.mit.edu:8001/people/rei/CFdir/CFhome.html single-handedly fought the 'educated idiots' and provided a forum for both discovery, verification, and peer review of 'new energy technologies.' Many have the audacity to say: "What can one man do?

Dr. Gene Mallove stood within the gap 'sparking' continuity of a very difficult subject matter. He provided a world-class forum so that like-minded 'intellect' could maintain 'integrity' in the collection of qualified data so that research would continue unabated.

Dr. Mallove http://www.halplotkin.com/SFGate019.htm presented his 'credentials' when he 'resigned' from MIT, rather than be associated with less than integrity. Dr. Arthur C. Clarke recognized Dr. Mallove's true grit--providing much needed support and encouragement.

Let us continue, maintaining Gene's momentum, he would have it so, as his life clearly and unequivocally demonstrated. What can one man do? Much, if you have the graceful tenacity, integrity and intent on discerning truth in the face of lies, and screaming hordes of 'educated idiots'. His voice, at the time, was solitary, singular and significant. He fulfilled the profoundest of needs, the rebuttal and defense in the face of defiance propounded and enunciated by http://www.emory.edu/EDUCATION/mfp/kuhnsyn.html Thomas S. Kuhn regarding 'novelties of fact.'

All the Best,
Leslie R. Pastor

PS:
As a science writer, Dr. Mallove maintained the intellectual stimulus lacking in most researchers. His ability was his capability to put into words and film what many in his field could not or would not have the capacity to do.

1. Killing sparks questions
Killing sparks questions
Some colleagues wonder if scientist could have been slain over his research into cold fusion.

NORWICH -- News of the death of a prominent scientist from New Hampshire in Norwich Friday has spread across the country, prompting a flood of condolences -- along with some conspiracy theories.

Few new details have been released about the circumstances of the death of Dr. Eugene F. Mallove, 56, formerly of Norwich.

City police said they are being assisted by state police and the New London County State's Attorney's Office.

Police have compiled a large volume of information through press coverage and investigation throughout the weekend, according to Norwich Police Capt. Franklyn Ward.

3. "Dead Scientists DO Tell Tales"
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 08:41 AM by Minstrel Boy

Dr. Eugene F. Mallove, a Norwich Free Academy graduate, 56, died May 14, 2004 after being beaten to death during an alleged robbery. Mallove appeared on Coast To Coast AM as recently as Feb. 2004 speaking about alternative energy. Mallove was well respected for his knowledge of cold fusion.

Dr. Eugene Mallove & Gary Webb: "Konformists of the Year, 1997"

Eugene Mallove and Gary Webb seem to be unlikely figures to be linked with radical causes. Dr. Mallove, who was the chief science writer for MIT during the end of the eighties, didn't get at such an esteemed position by attacking authority. As for Mr. Webb, his work as an investigative journalist at the San Jose Mercury was certainly top-notched (including an astounding piece on asset forfeiture), but this was a big-money paper, after all. If the circumstances were different, perhaps Mallove and Webb would be headed toward higher and higher official posts, and one could surmise, eventually be willing mouthpieces (however unwittingly) for dishonest pronouncements and transparent "exposes".

And yet, they are not. Instead of going the direction where, had they not rocked the boat, they both were headed, something happened. Both became aware of facts and events that others in their establishments were ignoring and/or suppressing. Rather than join in on the ignorance and suppression, both Eugene Mallove and Gary Webb decided to take a stand. Because of this, both Mallove and Webb have faced ridicule and a loss of esteem by many of their former colleagues. In the process, however, they have become Konformist icons, rebels with a cause. They are not outcasts because they had little other choice, but men of principal who believed in silly little myths such as truth and honesty that others give mere lip service to. And the choices they have made are astronomical in implications: the work of Mallove and Webb, though right now ridiculed and suppressed by much of the puppets of the ruling elites (and thus marginalized to being disseminated in kooky fringe e-zines) will eventually rise and destroy much of official view of reality as it now stands. It is for the revolutionary nature of their work, revolutionary on a scale which can hardly even be imagined and measured yet, that both are being awarded with the 1997 Konformist of the Year award, the first such recipients of this trophy.

Gary Webb, in case you didn't know, is the journalist behind the "Dark Alliance" series, the collection of August 1996 articles in the San Jose Mercury which examined and exposed the connection between the Central Intelligence Agency, the Contras war in Nicaragua, and the rise of the crack cocaine epidemic in the black communities of inner cities, in particular in the city of Los Angeles....

...

At a time when cynicism and disgust in society is rising (a positive development), Dr. Mallove has been one of the few people to dare spread real positive news. And indeed it is. The implications of cold fusion are astounding: food and economic distribution would be radically changed, and the scourge of world hunger would disappear overnight. Rather than rely on resources that are destructive to the environment such as gas and oil, it would rely on renewable resources like a simple glass of tap water, thus stopping the terrible damage to our environment.

...

Dr. Mallove and those on the trail of cold fusion are working on something which mankind can hardly grasp yet, and perhaps that is why he and his ilk have been attacked so viciously. To some, Utopia is a vision of fear.
