Kerry Daughters Revel in Sublime Experience (attempted smear ala WilHORen)
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate that bitch Jodi Wilgoren?
You really have to read the whole article to get what's going on. Wilgoren is straining mightily to smear the Kerry daughters, not succeeding very well, IMO.

BOSTON, July 28 - Alexandra Kerry had just finished autographing a young man's campaign T-shirt - "I told him on eBay it'll be worth 10 cents" - after a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, when someone summoned her behind a tent to meet Kenneth Cole.

The Kenneth Cole, he of shoes and bags, and, more important to an aspiring filmmaker like Ms. Kerry, a member of the board of the Sundance Institute.

He asked who made her jeans. She had no idea, arching her back to read the label.

Ms. Kerry ambled over to the television reporters waiting for interviews, only to be stopped by a Secret Service agent because she was not wearing the proper badge.

1. I have sent letters to the NYT about her. One time I think they
replied to "concerns" about one the articles but the changed only ONE word in the heading... and it was not the one that had negative implications! (multisyllabic). SHE HAS NEVER WRITTEN A POSITIVE ARTICLE ON KERRY and she is the "journalist" covering his campaign. If I were Kerry, I would have his campaign contact the NYT and explain that they need a Journalist not a fifth-columnist.
She has called him "restless and as hamster" said that he has a "butler", covered his "rich man homes and vacations".... it is insidious and horrible.

4. Maybe I am just not attuned to the undercurrents,
but this seemed like a pretty good piece. I am not familiar with the author, but it didn't seem like a negative article to me.

5. Sounds to me like the NY Post style of gossip, rather than real journalism
from the quote without reading the whole article. Good for Alexandra who could care less about designer labels, but was willing to meet someone who might be able to help her in the future regarding filmmaking.

6. I like that she blends in and didn't care what "brand" of jeans she was

wearing.. and she only thought her autograph would be worth 10 cents on EBAY. Sounds pretty modest to me.

That's my kind of gal. :)

10. The bush twins would have taken
off their jeans. Those two are wild but the press cannot or will not allow their antics to be printed. They will not speak until they have a script. Too dangerous. Reporters will not be able to interview only those chosen ones.

7. Bush daughters revel in something else entirely
That is to say, a booze soaked life of priveledge and mindless hedonism.

8. If only they'd stayed in the limo and stuck out their tongues
The press is very protective of that kind of activity. It's "playful" and no one is reveling in anything sublime.

9. When she was covering Dean ...
When she was covering Dean, her smears were so continuous that some members of the Deaniac Rapid Response Corps (now expanded and rededicated as Media for Democracy http://www.mediafordemocracy.us with 50,000 members) started a website called Wilgoren Watch. I'll give you odds it's still up and that it could be used to fight back for Kerry.

11. If she was trying to smear the Kerrys, she did a bad job
The two young women described in this article are fairly ambitious, intelligent, and down-to-earth women who are coping with being in the spotlight for the first time in their lives. If these women have made mistakes, they are common mistakes that any presidential candidate's child could make. If my mother or father ran for the presidency, I could easily see myself being stopped by the Secret Service for having the wrong badge or cracking a joke that did not "translate well in print."

Clearly, they were fortunate enough to grow up with a warm, loving and "goofy," father. Indeed, this article contradicts the common perception that John Kerry is cold and stiff. Whether intentional or not, Wilgoren's article humanizes Kerry.

12. I loathe Wilgoren, but I didn't find this piece so bad..
If it's the best that Revenge of the Jodi can do in terms of hatcheting these lovely young women, I think everything'll be fine.
