US Arabs 'fear for their family'

Almost 60% of Arab Muslims living in the US fear for the future of their families, according to a new report. Almost a quarter of those asked said a family member had been insulted because of their race or religion.

Researchers at the University of Michigan questioned more than 1,500 people in the Detroit area over a six-month period.

They found 49% of the general population would support the increased surveillance of Arab Americans.

...Even so, over 40% of the general population would support the detention of Arabs and Muslims without the evidence to prosecute them.

To any Arab Muslim living in this country, I apologize for the inhumanity of some of my fellow Americans. In this country, we have been given so much fear and hate in order for those in power, to remain in power. For this I apologize.

3. It Gets Worse

I was watching MSNBC this morning and in the crawl there was a blurb that the US Census Bureau had started to turn over census information of Arab-Americans to the Department of Homeland Security.

Perhaps those more capable then myself might want to check into this further.

I am from a pretty well-adjusted community. That isn't to say that we haven't felt our fair share of mistrust and racism, but overall I think our community has (up to this point) been fairly understanding of true Islam!

after 9/11 people were calling radio stations suggesting on air we create internment camps for arabs.

I remember one host saying "no I think it would be horrible if we did that" though some callers didn't think so.
