Democrats' Security Comes in Under Budget
BOSTON -- Law enforcement agencies spent less than $40 million of the $50 million appropriated by Congress for security at the Democratic National Convention, officials said Friday.

Officials took extraordinary security precautions for the convention, the first national political gathering since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. They closed highways and transit stations near the FleetCenter and cordoned protesters off in a fenced-in demonstration area near the downtown arena.

But only six people were arrested all week -- three in a brief scuffle between police and protesters on Thursday, the final day of the convention.

"We expect that the cost will be significantly less than the $50 million," Boston Police Commissioner Kathleen O'Toole said at a news conference flanked by officials from the state police, Secret Service, Boston Fire Department, EMS and other agencies.

6. It will be interesting....
To see if the RNC copies the DNC with "freedom" pens of their own, or If they confiscate signs and placards from delegates that don't project the right amount of "Unity".

Just have to watch...

7. The "protest pen" wasn't the DNC's doing
The city of Boston was responsible, not the convention nor the Democratic party.

4. Send the $10mil to NYC, they are going to need it.
Those anti-American traitors are going to need an army to protect them from the righteous indignation of The People.

8. well, this can be taken two ways...
that the dems know how to throw a party without a lot of need for police action, or the police were reluctant to arrest republican protesters. guess which version we'll be hearing.
