Newly crowned Kerry storms back on the campaign trail

SCRANTON, United States (AFP) - Riding the wave of his four-day presidential nomination gala, John Kerry (news - web sites) hit the campaign trail again, challenging Republicans on their home turf issues of values and national security.

"You're here because you believe deeply, with all your hearts and your minds, that we can do better," Kerry told around 20,000 cheering supporters in Scranton, Pennsylvania -- first stop on a two-week, coast-to-coast tour following the Democratic national convention in Boston.

One of the swing states key to victory in the November 2 election, Pennsylvania is a priority for both Democrats and Republicans as they seek to sway undecided voters.

"This is the most important election of our lifetime," Kerry said. "Everything is on the line."

1. My dad was (almost) at the rally in Scranton.
He waited in line for about two hours but had to pack it in because he's recovering from back problems and couldn't stand much longer. Anyway, he said the streets were jammed with people, twenty wide and blocks deep. Quite a crowd and a great day. My old hometown did the Kerry team proud!

2. 20,000 people!!!
Wow! Incredible!!

Over the course of the convention I couldn't help but notice our line-up and their positive, optimistic message. We've got some real shining stars in our party right now and listening to many of them I noted a sharp contrast when this message of hope is compared with the fear mongering Team Bush has come to rely on so heavily. Surely the people will surely notice the difference and develop an appetite for more of this hopeful talk about ways to make things better for all.

Don't think people in the Pocono's have much love for the little George.

5. I was there...
it was packed all over, not even breathing room. Plus, people were passing out from the heat and humidity and were taken to the hospital. Kerry's daughter jumped off the stage to assist one person.

6. This is excellent news...
from my backwards little state! We Pennsylvanians went for Gore in 2000, we'll do Kerry proud in 2004!

7. I noticed on Capital Gang..
Novak admitting (in a very very low voice) that Bush was falling behind Kerry in PA. It's wonderful to hear such things coming from such a cretin..
