53. The rioters against the correct count in Florida were paid GOP types
Nixon paid folks to cause problems and look like they were Dems.

The idea that Rove/Bush/GOP would pay folks to look like an attack on the GOP convention is not too far a stretch.

Fear is all Bush has to sell at this point.

98. You voiced what a lot of us are thinking. No doubt about it.
You'd think some of the slow learning Republicans would start putting the pieces together, and realizing some of the things we've known for ages.

I wouldn't WANT to be part of a group which has been the ONLY one to do nasty, dirty, underhanded, and CRIMINAL things to succeed for ages.

If they had anything GOOD to do on earth, they wouldn't have to do evil to keep control.

Who wants to be a part of something EVIL, for crissakes? How proud can they be of THAT? Dirtballs.

11. ABC News: Big Apple Terror?
Big Apple Terror?
Sources: Al Qaeda Plotting to Attack New York City Corporations

N E W Y O R K, July 31, 2004 — ABC News has learned that federal and New York City officials have received credible intelligence that al Qaeda has been plotting to carry out suicide attacks on corporations based in the city.

Sources at several law enforcement agencies tell ABC News that an "overseas source" has provided the information about the threat to New York and that it is more significant than the usual "chatter" intercepted from likely terrorists that has prompted warnings in the past.

Officials from dozens of local and federal agencies met into the night Friday and again this morning.

Intelligence sources say al Qaeda plans to move non-Arab terrorists across the border with Mexico. Authorities already have in custody a woman of Pakistani-origin arrested after crossing into Texas. She carried a South African passport with several of the pages torn out, $7,000 in cash and an airplane ticket to New York.

What In The World Is Going On Along The Mexican Border
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2124884

LIHOP/MIHOP theories regarding 9/11 have never gained much credibility with me. My view has been that the administration placed too little emphasis on counterterrorism since it was one of the major concerns of the Clinton administration, thus facilitating the 9/11 attackers through bureaucratic incompetence.

However, when I hear the following during an interview on "Lou Dobbs Tonight" 1-1/2 months ago:

" . . agents are forced to sit eight to 10 hours a day in one spot in order not to move from that spot, even if aliens are crossing within yards of them . . . This comes straight from the top and nobody has signed an order to that effect, but those are the standing orders out there in the field, and if agents violate them, they are subject to discipline."

Then an article in a Tombstone, AZ paper that states:

". . . at least two documented accounts of Border Patrol agents encountering large groups of non-Spanish speaking males in the Chiricahua foothills and on trails along the high mountain areas . . . 71 suspected illegal aliens were apprehended; among them were 53 males of middle-eastern descent"

Then our 'terra' warning of this week for CA and NM.

Kinda gets you thinkin' about a LIHOP around the time of the election.

FBI Issues Terror Warning for Calif., N.M.

The FBI warned police in California and New Mexico that it received information about possible terrorist activity in their states. However, the warning wasn't specific about particular targets or a method of attack, a federal law enforcement official said Thursday.

Breaking Silence over a Possible Terror Threat
July 23, 2004

http://www.sftt.org/cgi-bin/csNews/csNews.cgi?database=...

. . .

According to the Tombstone editor’s sources, on June 13, 2004, Border Patrol agents from the Wilcox, Ariz., patrol station encountered a large group of illegal border crossers in the Chiricaucha Mountain foothills, just east of what is known as The Sanders Ranch. Agents estimated that the group comprised about 100 people.

Border Patrol sources who were present at this mass apprehension state that they seized 71 illegal aliens, of whom 53 were males of Middle Eastern decent. The suspects did not speak Spanish and spoke only poor English, sources told the newspaper.

In fact, after a group of the detainees had been placed in a transport van, one Border Patrol agents on the scene who speaks Arabic and Farsi, the native language of Iran, clearly overheard the detainees speaking Arabic through an air vent in the transport vehicle.

Higher-ups in the Border Patrol allegedly ordered these agents involved not to say a thing to the news media.

17. You know, all they have to keep doing is putting out false intel and watch
us scurry in fear. We will never know when they really hit us. Unless, of course, something is staged for public consumption to show that Bush is keeping us safe. Remember, the public heard very little, if anything, about the millenium attacks that were thwarted until they started accusing Clinton of doing nothing to protect us. But if this regime stages an event you will hear about it all around the world. I just don't put anything past them. That's really a shame, isn't it. To have to think that your own government would be plotting against us.

I mean, the only thing that really hurts them is computer crime...and honest competition.

If they go after employees....well, thousands of out of work execs will submit resumes.

If they go after the real estate....construction boom.

If the go after CEOs.....well, that's just too damn bad.

It just doesn't sound right. You can't hurt a corporation with a car bomb.

Down at the arsenal they keep the nerve gasses
Guarded day and night by caged white rabbits
Been sitting there for years

Go crazy crazy crazy crazy:

Now I got my own mustard gas in my pocket
Climb on a tree on a branch and drop it
On a country club full of Saturday golfers
So I can watch them die chokin' shakin'in convulsions
Go crazy crazy crazy crazy
Crazy crazy crazy crazy:

Chemical Warfare Chemical Warfare
Chemical Warfare Warfare Warfare

Panic in the air
See the headless chickens runnin'
Golf carts head on crashin'
Crackin' heads wide open
Scratch the grass, mister, you can't breath
And roll and writhe in a sandtrap
Starting to heave
Claw those clubs, lemme see you seethe
Crazy Crazy Crazy Crazy Crazy Crazy

Chemical Warfare Chemical Warfare
Chemical Warfare Warfare Warfare

Yellow air
Yellow clouds
Blowin' down down down the fairway
Sensitive to the touch
Mowin' down the putting green
Heading straight for the big clubhouse
Where the stuffed country club
Effervescent ladies, so carefree
Relax, pose by the pool
Limber limp with a dry martini
Until...

37. Does NYC have a separate 'alert level'?
From the ABC story:

"The NYPD recommends that corporate and institutional security directors review their protection of HVAC systems, parking installations, and security in general," the statement added. "The alert level for New York City remains unchanged at 'orange' or 'high.'"

But the Fatherland Security website says it's Yellow - Elevated.

Or don't they pay any attention to each other?

Bloomberg said so at the press conference during the last time national alert was raised to orange.

I suppose it's because we are considered a higher-probability target.

I read that Kerry had attracted 8,000 people at one rally in PA and 20,000 in Harrisburg, PA.

That's incredible!

These alerts are indeed intended to make people wearing of gathering in public places.

Thanks for invading Iraq instead of hunting down Al Quaeda-it was a brilliant strategy that you and your pin head neocon buddies developed- it made us weaker, alienated all of our allies and spent us into insolvency-I feel much safer now-so because of your MISERABLE FAILURE- we will be getting terror warnings forever-I truly believe you have squandered our country's resources and made it weaker than I can ever imagine-you have done what Hitler and Tojo couldn't do-thanks

Date: 31 Jul 16:01 (PDT)
To: netaudr@abc.com
Subject: Dan Harris 7/31/04

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Your reporter's gratuitous insults of the Democratic
nominee are quite frankly, offensive, not journalistic
whatsoever, and glaringly petty. Is this the best you
can do at the network level? At least the women on Fox
have better legs than Harris does, I'd rather listen to
them if I have to hear this nonsense. Tell him to get
with the program and become a reporter as he was
educated to be.

I use the passive voice because your reporters do
incessantly.

For Democraticunderground.com, I'm PCIntern.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- President George W. Bush may be tapping into solid human psychology when he invokes the September 11 attacks while campaigning for the next election, U.S. researchers said on Thursday.

Talking about death can raise people's need for psychological security, the researchers report in studies to be published in the December issue of the journal Psychological Science and the September issue of the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.

"There are people all over who are claiming every time Bush is in trouble he generates fear by declaring an imminent threat," said Sheldon Solomon of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, who worked on the study.

"We are saying this is psychologically useful," said Solomon.

That's an irresponsible word to be using. If an attack is imminent, that means brace yourselves because the terrorists have the bombs loaded in their trucks, and they're just waiting for the orders to start setting them off. They should have said they are threatening to attack, if that.

And aren't they supposed to go to code red if an attack is imminent?

What will we do without them, they've been so good to us.. are these MEDIA Corporations by any chance?

Which corporations? Halliburton? Bechtel?

Once again the sky is falling and Chicken Little is in charge.

I call this Bush's "Terrorist Enhancement Program" -- by bombing Iraq instead of going after Al Queda he's growing the Terror Business..

Knowing that everything he does fails makes me think that all will be well.. but I agree with the poster above, this will either cancel all Protest applications or else a million DARTH VADERS are going to stand on hundreds of heads..

the protest in Boston were a joke compared to the people with a legitimate beef that will be showing up in NYC..

while Bush stands on the dead that he KILLED and tells us all how safe we are :)

As Peter Bergen and Joseph Bodanski who have written for years about and met with bin Laden have stated: these boys never, never do what is epected. They strike in their own time and at their own pace. They will strike when no one expects---the RNC convention is too "expected". If there really was a credible threat, Bush would be on a plane running for his useless life and refusing to go any where near NYC. But he would return to stand on the pile of blown up bodies to talk into a bull horn and scream "I'm a hero". Why would the terrorists waste a bomb on that useless piece of shit???

My children are better informed. In fact, sometimes we watch something on it and then go online to find that their "facts" have already been debunked.

It's only good to teach the children that sometimes grownups don't always tell the truth, and that some people are terribly misinformed.

No specifics, not even this time. Attacks on corporations? In NYC? Well, that narrows it down to about a ZILLION different locations.

The Senator or Representative that Michael Moore put in his "Fahrenheit 911" film was exactly right. They keep scaring eveyone with these vague threats to keep everyone under control. It's starting to remind me of the Cold War stuff when I was a kid.

97. Bush may be the best candidate for Bin Laden's recruiting mission
but if Bush slithers in again, it's open season on Iraqi citizens, with Iran and Syria to follow. Bin Laden may now have all the recruits he needs, and those Muslims must be steaming over the U.S.' ever growing control of the Middle East than ever before.

I could see the Bin Laden followers making a large section of the US uninhabitable via a nuke attack. That would pretty much put a damper on "Results matter" and keep the US busy with its own affairs than worry about Iraq's.

Berlusconi has been warned to pull troops out of Iraq. If Italy gets hit, Spain-style, what message will that send to US voters? The message I would get is "Leave or be next."

I believe Richard Clarke. Bush has made the U.S. less safe. I believe it's only a matter of time, and I won't be surprised in the least.

The boy who cried wolf lied so many times that when he told the truth no one believed him.

BS George just might get his wish at the re-thug convention.

But, I think that what they are planning on doing is making sure that there are no protesters. If they have a threat then the protesters can't protest can they.

My wife and I attended the massive pre-war NYC protests, and we didn't let the transparent raising of the threat color level two days before keep us from exercising our Constitutional right to free speech.

We plan to do the same for the RNC Convention, and if it means getting arrested for speaking our minds...then so be it.

The only way to protect yourself from being brainwashed is to not watch it. Assume when you're watching TV that you're being brainwashed to buy shit you don't need, or to believe stuff with no logical foundation that advances some position of corporate America.

The FCC needs to be totally overhauled, but until that happens the only way to keep your brain safe is to refuse to watch. It's an easy transition for us news junkies w/ the internet and a good connection.

118. They'll prolly bring out some of the Arab Americans they've been holding
since 9/11, and parade them before the TV cameras, telling Americans "LOOK!!! WE'VE CAUGHT THESE TERRORISTS BEFORE THEY ATTACKED NEW YORK CITY!!!"

Then, they'll lock 'em away in Gitmo, with no lawyers, and the networks won't be allowed to interview their family members.

The bush cabal has been holding lots of Arab Americans in detainment since 9/11....just waiting for the chance to present them to their fellow citizens as "terrorists"...."about to strike".

The bush team will all be wearing their little white hats, riding in on white steeds..... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED all over again.

we know the rest.

119. ABC news, owned by Disney...Eisner bailed out by Saudis
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 01:35 PM by Mari333
when EuroDisney was in the red, the Saudis bailed out Eisner. Another reason Eisner wouldnt do Farenheit 9/11.
Eisner is beholden to the Saudi family. Traitor.

"Disney may have another reason, not mentioned by the Times, to reject a film that might offend the Saudi royal family: A powerful member of the family, Al-Walid bin Talal, owns a major stake in Eurodisney and has been instrumental in the past in bailing out the financially troubled amusement park (AFP, 6/1/94). The project is facing a new cash crunch, and Al-Walid has been mentioned as a potential rescuer again (L.A. Times, 1/26/04). "

121. ...Attacks from Al Quaeda imminent...
Imminent, you mean like the way that Iraq was an imminent threat?

I forsee a face off on live T.V. As Bush is addressing all the GOPs a couple of arab looking guys run onto the stage. These guys are more pale complected than you'd expect middle easterners to be, but they all scream some gobbly guck language we don't understand so they must be evil.

They all have guns and bombs and earpeices and stuff, and they threaten to kill everybody in the room. But they didn't count on Bush being such an ass-whoopin guy, and together with Arnold Schwartzenegger they stomp terrawrist butt right there on the stage, and FOX catches it all.

129. Probably said already
but according to a PBS Intel commentator and Ridge's own words that these are just mulled over targets from OLD documents. No imminence. No evidence of real plans at all. More baiting and rousting to give the nervous GOP nellies the excuse to do extra safety precautions and not be blamed or held to account. Victims of their own need for fear.

And the results of these constant scares give away our responses and vulnerabilities for a real, later attack with declining public credulity.

126. Tin foil hat time? Prudential, Citi both big Dem contributors
This is a little creepy, but if you do an FEC contributors search, you'll find that both Prudential and Citi employees are pretty big contributors to Democrats - especially compared to other Financial Services companies, who usually suppoort the GOP.

These are the two company buildings which have been singled out by Ridge in his press conference today.

Maybe it's just a happy coincidence. I hope so. Because my tinfoil hat's getting worn entirely too much lately.

136. FEAR, FEAR......................POLLS, POLLS
George W is on the case! But, but.....why is he just NOW getting involved in all this? Think of all those billions in Iraq that could have been spent years ago for our defense, right here at home.
