Australia's far-right leader jailed for electoral fraud
Good news! This nasty character is getting her just deserts!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/australia/story/0,12070,1022643,00.html

The controversial founder of Australia's far-right One Nation party, Pauline Hanson, was jailed for three years by a Brisbane court today after being found guilty of electoral fraud.

The former fish and chip shop owner, who stormed into Australian politics in 1996 with her vehement stance against Asian immigration and state payments to Aborigines, reacted angrily to the verdict.

The fiery redhead, renowned for her garish wardrobe, had pleaded not guilty to fraudulently registering One Nation in the state of Queensland. She also denied dishonestly obtaining A$500,000 (£206,000) in electoral funds used for the campaigns of 11 politicians elected to the Queensland state parliament.

Hanson is due to face separate charges over allegations she used political funds for personal expenditure.

this finally closes the chapter on a nasty piece of australian history..hansons legacy will live on purely on the basis that due to her popularity she forced howard to move even further to the right in a desperate bid to capture the ignorant vote..this in turn led to australias disgraceful policy regarding refugees and the infamous "tampa" and children overboard incidents..one positive out of this sordid saga is that the labor party rank and file are responding positively in the effort to provide a clear delineation between left and right in our political system..perhaps a lesson to be learnt in the US and UK..

3. Just Desserts!
Whenever I hear the ELO song "The Evil Woman", Maggie Thatcher immediately springs to mind and so does Pauline "Please explain?" Hanson.

I was residing in Australia when this nasty little piece of work came on the scene.

Unfortunately, many people were attracted to her sick, racist rants and she soon attracted more attention than someone of her narrow-mindedness deserved.

I'm glad to see her finally get her just desserts.

4. How can Aussies be against state payments to Aborigines?
It's just like the US hates to give anything from the state to Native Americans...it was their land first and the invaders took it from them.

5. Buh-bye, Pauline
(snip) The conviction likely will bar Hanson from standing again for parliament.

She stood with arms crossed fighting back tears as the sentence was handed down, according to Sky News television.

Earlier Wednesday, when the verdict was read, a clearly shocked Hanson angrily declared: "Rubbish, I'm not guilty ... it's a joke."

The conviction looked like a final fall from grace for Hanson, a former fish and chip restaurant owner who once won a seat in federal parliament on a platform denouncing Asian immigration and welfare payments to Australia's impoverished Aborigines. (snip/...)

6. Pauline's "Karl Rove" got away with his deeds unpunished.

The real evil behind Pauline Hanson, David Oldfield, left the party and became a senator in the New South Wales parliament. He completely avoided being charged in all of this, so is free to set up his wonderful little website:

He's an evil pig.
