CBS Poll: U.S. Losing Control in Iraq
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/07/10/opinion/polls/main562628.shtml

With U.S. troops continuing to take casualties in Iraq, less than half of Americans now believe the U.S. is in control of the situation there -- a dramatic decline from April, when 71 percent thought it was.

Less than half now say Iraq was a threat that required immediate action. And while 54 percent still believe that removing Saddam Hussein from power was worth the costs of war, that figure, too, has declined from 65 percent in May.

--snip--

Americans’ belief that the U.S. is in control of the situation in Iraq has plummeted to 45 percent, down from 71 percent in late April.

--snip--

HAVE THE END RESULTS OF WAR IN IRAQ BEEN WORTH THE COSTS?
Yes 45%
No 45%

--snip--

THE PRESIDENT
President Bush’s overall job rating is now 60 percent, down from 66 percent last month, and his lowest rating since before the start of the war in Iraq. The President’s rating on handling of Iraq has dropped 14 points since May. Just 58 percent now approve of the way Bush is handling the situation there, compared to 72 percent who approved in May. As for other foreign policy issues besides Iraq, only 50 percent approve of his handling of those.

And Dean fans - check the bottom #'s on Democratic candidates - 66% can't name one Democrat even among Democrats - lord we have some space cadet citizens in this country - but Dean and Kerry are at the top at least, only 7% while Lieberman sits at 6% while everyone else brings up the rear. Not encouraging, but if things stay in the Crapper maybe Americans will turn off American Idol long enough to figure out they have to vote for someone besides AWOL.

1. The numbers on so many issues are turning against the WH
Yet Bush's approval rating is still 60 percent? I knoe it's down but it's still way too high.

4. Approval ratimg
I question the validity of polls that claim these sort of ratings.
Since taking office Bush has been the adult in charge while about 3 million people have lost their jobs, the unemployment rate now reported as the highest in 20 years (up from highest in 9 years in a matter of a week or so), the stock market down 20% or so, we've had the worst attack on our own soil ever, we are in a war with soldiers being killed daily, a war that we are FINALLY seeing reported as based upon false premises, (what some folks call lies) by the major media. And this is a guy that didn't win the popular vote and was elected by the narrowest of margins, 5 to 4 SCOTUS. So who the hell are they polling, the Whitehouse staff?

2. WELCOME TO IRAQNAM
Ya Chimpy its not going to get any better soon.

You can however stop the bleeding by using the same tactics as the Einzatcommandos did in the Ukraine and the Baltic States.
Just line up the non-believers and mow them down.

3. A note on your last paragraph
It's wa-a-a-ay too early (in my opinion) for most of the public to worry about Election 2004. (Though now is a good time for all committed evil DUers to be active and ready for the candidate of their choice!)

So if 66% of folks can't name a Democratic candidate in the summer of 2003, that's just all the more reason for us to talk up the Democratic alternative and make sure that people get a good look at what the Supreme Court foisted on us back in 2000. It's not pretty; hell, it's not even competent! And make sure that people know there is a real, viable choice this election cycle. I think that message is getting out, and it resonates with a lot of people.
