Bush Envoy to Join Ulster Peace Talks

Washington’s envoy to Northern Ireland, Mitchell Reiss, will join crucial peace process talks next week, it emerged tonight.
President George Bush’s special envoy will join Prime Minister Tony Blair and his Irish counterpart Bertie Ahern in all-party talks aimed at restoring devolved government in the province.
A source in the United States said: “Reiss’s presence is a sign of how serious theses talks are being taken. People are cautiously optimistic that a deal can be struck.”
Ulster Secretary Paul Murphy told the Commons earlier that the two-day talks would be the “moment of decision” for the peace process in Northern Ireland.
