Pope Talks Sex Abuse Scandal With Bishops |
|
Pope John Paul (news - web sites) II discussed the U.S. sex-abuse scandal with a group of American bishops Saturday, encouraging them to be more open to the needs of parishioners in the wake of a "crisis of confidence in the Church's leadership." http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=518&ncid=718&e=8&u=/ap/20040911/ap_on_re_eu/vatican_sex_abuse

1. hm..more open to the needs of the parisioners? |
|
As compared to their own perverted needs? Sorry, but what's that got to do with sexual abuse going on in the church, unaddressed for all these years?
How is that going to fix the fundamental rot that's destroying the Catholic Church? The pope needs to address the basic problem: why his church is attracting people who take advantage of kids.

Everyone MUST appear to be lily-white and perfect. To actually fix the problem would mean the problem would have to be acknowledged.
Not. Gonna. Happen.
This isn't just the church, this is goddamn near everything and everyone. That's why nothing gets solved anymore because no one can admit to being less than totally without flaw, error, or sin.

5. the Church is now making an attempt to get women back |
|
and these women are those who have had abortions. They now "recognize" the "fact" that ~>50% of all women have had an abortion and they figure maybe they'll come back to the Church. Some never left the Church, some have moved on. Maybe others will come back, I do not know.
It is a little bit too late I am sorry to say Pope John Paul II. Now abortion is a forgivable sin I suppose.
Who would have ever thought?

6. More than 50% have had an abortion? |
|
Are you sure? Maybe I'm reading the math symbol wrong. That seems very very high to me.
In any case, I feel it's too little too late from Il Papa. I'm sorry but the Catholic Church lost me a while ago and reinforced it with the duplicity in the child-abuse scandals.
The Church hierarchy has no use for women and I have no use for the hierarchy, i.e the men running the business that is the Catholic Church.

8. well ~43% I believe the figure was |
|
This is no lie believe me. I was called on the telephone and was told that the Church realized that approx. 43% of all women have had abortions.
This was their figure, not mine. I did not pursue this further but I must admit I was and still am surprised.
*Reality check*
I do have a lot of respect for the pope and I wish him well. It is almost as if they are scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to obtain new and old converts.
So, now it is ok ... ?

7. More Open to parishioners? The Pope is so far out of touch with this |
|
scandal,he's just now addressing it? The Pope lives only because Heaven has no use for him and Hell is at full capacity with so called religious leaders. It is because of the Pope's insensitivity to humans that I refuse to give the Catholic church a penny.
