position - indeed it asserts lies!
Sent today to the media and to GOP email lists was what appeared to me to be a request for a redo of the debate via a Windows Media Player video whose theme is "John Kerry's credibility gap" - but it is just the usual GOP straw man lies and partial truth - which they then tear down as if it really was Kerry's position.
Isn't this getting a little old?
Is our media so stupid as to not see through this crap, or is our media so frighten of losing the paycheck that they will treat this as she says/he says and give it undeserved credibility by not calling the GOP on the lies?
The GOP doesn't hear Kerry Warriors versus War comment, where warriors die for their country - always - and are to be honored - always - and claims a mistake to invade Iraq means warriors are dying for mistake. They just do not understand that our warriors always die for their country, even if the policy is a mistake. So GOP asserts - and they assert so well - that "Kerry can't have it both ways" which becomes "You can't be for getting rid of Saddam Hussein when things look good and against it when times are hard" which means Kerry is not clear speaking and meaning what he says! Because we all know Kerry voted against our troops (Bush's threaten veto over paying for the $87B via a small tax hike on the rich is forgotten by the GOP), Kerry should not say "I believe that our troops deserve better." and "help is on the way." Besides Kerry's vote is asserted to be not a protest - but a vote against the troops.
GOD - AFTER THIS GOP CRAP I NEED A SHOWER! SO WHY DOES OUR MEDIA LET THEM SAY THIS CRAP ON TV!
Oh yeah, Kerry was not properly thankful for "genuine coalition" sacrifices and was disdainful or dismissive - calling them the coalition of the "coerced and the bribed." (GOP forgets that Kerry did not dismiss their contribution - he only noted the 80% US cost - and noted that sending a 5 man soup kitchen team was not a huge contribution - and indeed was a contribution that for most of our "allies" was purchased with cash from the US to that Allie.
But giving China a veto over North Korea - as Bush has done - is working with our allies and the international community, in contrast to Kerry's working with other countries, which is allowing a "global test" before we can use American troops to defend ourselves. I love the way the GOP did not hear what Kerry said!
AND OUR MEDIA DOES NOT CALL THEM ON THIS - THERE IS NO "FACT CHECKING"?
In any case the movie is at
http://media1.streamtoyou.com/rnc/100104v1.wmv The movie has 10 points:
ONE "Global Test" means giving other countries a veto - proved by "I would have done what was necessary to know that you had exhausted the available remedies with the French and the Russians." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 10/20/03)
TWO Seems the GOP can not understand a logical statement that Saddam's greatest threat to us was not WMD, but was a Saddam's "Miscalculation" that might lead him to invade Kuwait, harm the Kurds or attack Iran, or try to use terrorists as 3rd party attackers on US - all of which does not mean that WMD is not the greatest threat to the US. But the GOP sets up the assertion that Kerry has lied and proves it by quoting "I would disagree with John McCain that it's the actual weapons of mass destruction (Saddam)he may use against us..." (CBS' "Face The Nation," 9/15/02)
THREE Then saying "This President Has Made, I Regret To Say, A Colossal Error Of Judgment." means that when he said Saddam's being captured is a good thing he was at odds with "A Colossal Error Of Judgment"!(CNN's "Capital Gang," 12/20/03; Anne Q. Hoy, "Dean Faces More Criticism," Newsday, 12/17/03)
FOUR: To complain about the mess is to really say you will not clean it up ???? "We Are 90 Percent Of The Casualties And 90 Percent Of The Cost:" means Kerry was in error when he said we should spend what it takes to get out of Iraq with a "win" of US safety (NBC's "Meet The Press," 8/31/03)
FIVE: Seems "You Don't Send Troops To War Without The Body Armor That They Need." means that knowing the $87 was going to pass, and making a protest vote of NO, is to to be Reckless And "Irresponsible" by Vote Against Funding For Troops - a non-funding that Kerry told CBS would not be allowed to occur.(CBS' "Face The Nation," 9/14/03). And why did Bush not have body armor at the start - and still does not have body armor for everyone 18 months later - is forgotten as the $87 B had funds for body armor - still unspent - so Kerry is evil
SIX: "Americans In Iraq Not Dying For "Mistake." is repeated by Kerry elsewhere - but the GOP asserts the war must be correct if folks are not dying for a mistake - so Kerry is evil again. "We can't leave a failed Iraq. But that doesn't mean it wasn't a mistake of judgment to go there and take the focus off of Osama bin Laden. It was." (Sen. John Kerry, First Presidential Debate, Miami, FL, 9/30/04)
SEVEN: Seems voting to give Bush authority was telling Bush to go to war - bad Kerry for saying he, Knowing What He Knows Now, "Would Not" Have Authorized Use Of Force.
Eight - Kerry Dismissed most of the Coalition Partners As "Window Dressing", thereby telling CNN the truth, and was therefore evil!
(CNN's "American Morning," 3/2/04)
NINE: Kerry claimed "I've Had One Position, One Consistent Position, That Saddam Hussein Was A Threat." so Kerry is evil because he also said Saddam Posed No "Imminent" Threat To Our Security." (Sen. John Kerry, Remarks At New York University, New York, NY, 9/20/04)
TEN: Kerry is also evil for saying "My Position Has Been Consistent: Saddam Hussein Is A Threat. He Needed To Be Disarmed." while also saying "Saying There Are Weapons Of Mass Destruction In Iraq Doesn't Make It So." and a year ago saying "I Have Always Said We May Yet Even Find Weapons Of Mass Destruction." (Fox News' "Fox News Sunday," 12/14/03)
