Elec-vote.com: "Dems would win Senate 52-48 if vote held today"
No poop! We're ahead in Alaska against an incumbent. We're ahead in Oklahoma against a crazy man. We're ahead in Colorado and Florida. We're ahead in Lousiana and we don't even have a candidate yet. We're even ahead in South freakin' Carolina.

I repeat, South Carolina. Yowzers!

Doesn't get much better than this (says the Texas represented by two Republican senators). Here 'tis:
Early in the year, the Republicans couldn't control their glee at the possibility of picking up as many as five Senate seats in the South, which has become increasingly Republican over the years. But a funny thing happened on the way to the election. The voters had different ideas. Not only are the Democrats holding four of the five seats in the South, but they are leading in all three formerly Republican seats. They are also leading in the only two really contested seats in which an incumbent might lose: Alaska and South Dakota.

If the Senate election were held today, the Democrats would take control of the Senate, 52-48 (counting independent Sen. Jeffords as a Democrat, since he caucuses with the Democrats). And this realignment does not take into account the possibility that Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R-RI) might pull a Jeffords and jump ship. He is from a hugely Democratic state and, like Zell Miller, would be much more appreciated in the other party.

State
Democrat (%) Republican (%)

Alaska
Tony Knowles (47%) Lisa Murkowski (41%)

Colorado
Ken Salazar (50%) Pete Coors (46%)

Florida
Betty Castor (49%) Mel Martinez (43%)

Georgia
Denise Majette (37%) Johnny Isakson (53%)

Illinois
Barack Obama (68%) Alan Keyes (17%)

Louisiana
Chris John or John Kennedy (47%) David Vitter (44%)

North Carolina
Erskine Bowles (45%) Richard Burr (44%)

Oklahoma
Brad Carson (44%) Tom Coburn (37%)

South Carolina
Inez Tenenbaum (46%) Jim DeMint (43%)

South Dakota
Tom Daschle (48%) John Thune (46%)

1. Good news.....B U T
Dems held comfortable leads just a few DAYS away from the 02 election, and in states with BBV, they LOST..

Our turnout has to be OVERWHELMING to compensate for the BBV fraud that we know they have planned..

Every place they can, they will .:(

4. Even if the Democrats take over the Senate
What Dashille and associates did for the last four year out of fear does not give me one bit of confidence in "their" incompentence

8. I would tend to agree, but . . .
I've been hearing some noises from some of the Senate Democrats (Joe Biden comes to mind) that given the subpoena power that being the majority party is entitled to, I think a few little command performances might ensue.

They can just make up any election results they want in Georgia now.
There is no turning back, because your elected representives no longer
are your elected representives, they are beholden to the cabal of
Fundie xtians who run Diebold and count your votes. Any deviation
from their agenda costs them their next election and they know it.
Democracy has fallen in Georgia and the fascists are firmly in control.

Sadly, the same is taking place in a number of states, and portions
of most others.

The question is not whether we can get a majority to vote for Kerry and the Dems,
it is whether we can get enough electoral votes in those states where votes are still counted.

9. I worry about SC but this is extremely good news.
I'm very hopeful that their campaigns won't let up and inch and GOTV big time. This November can really be the start of a new prosperous chapter for our country.

11. Chafee's planning to jump ship??? That's news to me.
When did this happen? I've yet to hear even rumblings about this scenario. Sure, there's always been the wet dream of Chafee, Snowe, or Spector converting to our side, but I've never read anything substantive or even plausible.

If that's changed, let me know!! This is great news, I hope it's true, but I've heard this all before.

12. Increased voter regs and GOTV
Anyone ever stop to consider what effect the increased voter registrations and GOTV efforts will have on the congressional races?

The fact that there is no talk at all about this among the corporate owned media, is probably an indication that it may be devastating news to the republicans.

On the so called cable 'news' channels, I have never heard one peep about the increased registrations, not even a passing mention.

14. Many of those leads
are small. I am cautiously optimistic. If Kerry wants to get anything done, he needs a dem senate.

Also, I think the SC numbers are from a partisan poll.
