Black Pastors Backing Bush Are Rarities, but Not Alone -NYT
Like many African-Americans, the Rev. Walter Humphrey, pastor of two mostly black churches in Akron, Ohio, and Oakland, Calif., has serious doubts about how fairly President Bush won the contested state of Florida in the last election. But Mr. Humphrey says that is not going to stop him from voting for Mr. Bush this year for the first time.

"I don't view that as an election that was stolen," he said. "I see that as the providence of God."

A registered independent who has now become a volunteer for the Bush campaign in Florida, Mr. Humphrey said the president's outspoken Christian faith, his support for church-based social programs and his opposition to same-sex marriage won him over. "As far as I am concerned, I see the hand of God on President Bush," he said.
..........
Ed Goeas, a Republican pollster working with the Bush campaign, said a recent survey indicated that 12 percent of African-Americans would vote for Mr. Bush, about double his level of support a month before the last election. But a recent poll conducted for The New York Times found that 93 percent of blacks believed the president was not legitimately elected in 2000.

10. Well, "Thou Shalt Not Steal" doesn't apply to Fuhrer's
and other God-Appointed Kings.

I'm virtually certain that many is on the same Bushevik Pay Korps that Jesse Lee Peterson and the rest of the Potemkin "African-Americans for Bush".

The sad truth has been shown that, like Peterson, if you scratch the surface of ANY "African-American for Bush", you will find a troth of Hannity/Faux/Scaife money funding them.

3. The Founding fathers had a few words about mixing Religion
... and politics.

"Persecution is not an original feature in any religion, but it is always the strongly marked feature of all religions established by law."
-- Thomas Paine

"When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one."
-- Benjamin Franklin

"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution."
-- James Madison

"I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved -- the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced."
-- John Adams

"They believe that any portion of power confided to me, will be exerted in opposition to their schemes. And they believe rightly: for I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility, against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. But this is all they have to fear from me: and enough too in their opinion."
-- Thomas Jefferson

4. That will be the next group the GOP uses and tosses...poor SOBs
don't even know they are letting racists use Gay Marriage to divide and conquer. Regardless of whom they vote for their vote may not be counted anyway.

I can't believe with all of the votes stolen from black folk all over the country a few idiots are actually voting rethuglican and preaching to their congregations to do so.

My only hope is that the congregations aren't buying the crap, but they are so brain washed with going to hell as a punishment they will do anything to please the lord.

What they don't know is the Lord doesn't want us punishing people he/she want's us to him/her do it.

7. In the local chicken coop council race
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 01:51 AM by AndyTiedye
Colonel Sanders continues to poll around 12%
which combined with a 4% showing for Brer Fox,
may put the Colonel over the top (after all
the other candidates go in the fryer).

11. * is using "faith based" funds to buy off black churches
If you're a small church -- black or white -- an influx of government money can make a huge difference in your budget. All * has to do is throw a couple of bucks ($20k or so) their way (or more likely, promise to do it) and then claim Kerry will take it away. Bingo! He's got the church hooked, and another hundred voters abandon their principles to vote for *!

12. Yeah. The Black Commentator had a few good articles on this subject
Also, doesn't it go hand in hand with *'s privatization of gov't social services and attempting to turn over some of those services to "faith based" organizations ?

I dug up the article on their site using google but I can't connect to their site right now so maybe someone else would have better luck

http://www.blackcommentator.com/23/23_commentary_1.html

Also I found this article on Alternet pertaining to the above article:
