US 'bugged' France's Chirac calls
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 10:29 AM by emad aisat sana
BBC News snip

The Bush-Chirac relationship is said to be "irreparable"

A book published in France says the US regularly monitored French President Jacques Chirac's phone calls.

The book, which charts the breakdown of the leaders' relationship in the run-up to the Iraq war, says several sources reported the surveillance.

The US told a senior French military official the French-US relationship at a personal level was "irreparable".

The book, Chirac contre Bush - l'autre guerre (Chirac versus Bush - the other war), comes out on Wednesday.

More bugging:

2. Err...
Well, duh.

I would have been suprised if they hadn't been bugging him.

I'd imagine nearly every head of state and head of government has their own audience when they place a call.

The French should have invested in better secure communications.

3. The US bugged other diplomats' phones in the lead up to the war, I recall
Didn't they bug UN Secretary General Kofi Annan? Or was it France that I recall from a past headline.

5. Did Marcos bug Aquino's calls? Did Stalin bug Trotsky's communications?
Of COURSE a monster like Bunnypants* is having Kerry bugged.

Now that there is NO LAW as pertains to the Imperial Family (like Russia had no law for the Communist Party), it is unquestionably so.

It would probably even be so if Uncle Karl felt in danger of being caught...which he doesn't.
