New 527 Ads to Hit Swing States |
|
P.R. Newswire ^ | 10/5/04
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Americans for Coal Jobs Voter Fund (ACJ), a new IRC 527 organization committed to protecting this nation's jobs in the coal industry and allied industries, today launched a new regional television advertising campaign to air in dominant U.S. coal-producing areas of Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. ACJ Executive Director Mike Carey stated,
"Our television ads put the spotlight on Senator John Kerry and his dismal record in supporting the country's coal industry. They expose Senator Kerry for his extreme environmental positions and his 20-year history of U.S. Senate voting against coal jobs.
"It's time to get the truth out about Senator Kerry. Senator Kerry has proudly supported legislation that would cut coal use nearly in half, reduce our nation's economic output and eliminate the high-paying coal jobs that are critical to these areas of the country.
"Perhaps that's why one newspaper called Kerry 'the most pro-environment presidential candidate in history' and another said that the 'Kerry plan would destroy coal industry.'
"Voters interested in protecting our nation's domestic coal industry have a clear choice in November. Senator Kerry has made his views abundantly clear: he is an extreme environmentalist with a voting record against our coal jobs. President Bush and Vice President Cheney have demonstrated their support of the coal industry and of the hard-working Americans who need those jobs."

6. Is this supposed to be a pro-shrub ad? Referring to Kerry as |
|
"the most pro-environment presidential candidate in history" doesn't exactly dampen my enthusiasm.

If the ad really says that, it's not speaking to swing voters.
