Poland to set date for withdrawal from Iraq soon: Minister
WARSAW (AFP) - Poland, one of the main pillars of the US-led coalition in Iraq (news - web sites), will soon fix a date for the withdrawal of its 2,500 troops, its defence minister said, the day after he surprised Washington by promising a pullout from the end of 2005.

Defence Minister Jerzy Szmajdzinski, speaking before holding tense talks with visiting US Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, said that a final timetable for the withdrawal would be decided soon after October 15.

"There is an ongoing debate within the government. Some preliminary conclusions will be presented by the prime minister to the parliament on October 15, when there is a vote on a no-confidence motion in the government," he told the private radio Zet.

2. Makes me sad.
The Poles are some good people. They stuck by us. They believed in us. They trusted us. Maybe never again.

Where I heard or read this I don't remember, someone remind me... :)

When the US Ambassador went to De Gaule during the Cuban missle crisis, the french president said he didn't need to see the intelligence, because he trusted the US. If we asked for his support we got it.

The Polish trusted us about the Iraq war. You say there are WMD's there are they are a threat? You don't have to show us the intelligence, we trust you. Whatever you need you got.

Now they've woken up and though from what I understand they still like us personally, I doubt they'll trust our government again for a long while.

Sad really how Bush's idiotic foriegn policy has destroyed our reputation for generations.
