Cheney and Kerry clash in only vice presidential debate
Tom Raum, Associated Press
October 6, 2004

CLEVELAND -- Sen. John Edwards accused the Bush administration Tuesday night of bungling the war in Iraq and presiding over a historic loss of jobs. ``Your facts are just wrong,'' Vice President Dick Cheney shot back in a crackling campaign debate.

In a clash at close quarters, Edwards accused Cheney of ``not being straight'' with the American people about the war. He said U.S. casualties are rising monthly and the United States is bearing 90 percent of the cost and suffering 90 percent of the dead and wounded

5. cheney is mean - most CEO are and he is worse than darth vadar
darth vadar had a heart in the end

Cheney is nasty

If he wants corporate costs to go down - take down the pay of the top 5% and especially all of these over paid CEOs - health care is up because CEOs are skimming 80% off the top for themselves

9. After 137,000 Votes its 78% for Edwards, 18% for Cheney, 5% Even
Amazing! Hope shines bright tonight.

My personal analysis is the Edwards clearly held his own against a very "unlikeable" man who could only close by threatened the American people. During the debate, I came to realize that Cheney actually believes his own BS. Talk about being out of touch.

In Edwards, you saw a personable, approachable, thoughful and intelligent man who wasn't ruffled by the barbs of a cynical old hard ass operatik who should go back to Wyoming and hunt ducks.

Cheney was CEO for, Halliburton, was under indictment for trading with Iran, etc. while they were under sanctions and a dozen other lies and you think Cheney did OK??
Did you listen to the debate or was it all hairstyle and demeanor that satisfied you?

Cheney is a traitor and a criminal and had no defense against the charges. You are OK with that?

19. SquireJons never said that.
He just suggested that he did better than the chimpanzee they sent over to debate Sen. Kerry last week. That wasn't hard, even for someone who is as completely full of shit as Dick Cheney.

Yes, what Dick Cheney was saying on TV was mostly bullshit. I know that, and you know that, but Joe Sixpack probably doesn't. The success/failure test, therefore, relies more heavily on things like delivery, demeanor, etc. - the things you look at to decide who's telling the truth and who's not. Cheney fails that test, but not by as wide a margin as Bush did last Tuesday, mainly because he is far more capable of telling lies with a straight face.

13. Golden Boy VS Dr. Death...

I think Edwards showed the spunk and tenacity of a bulldog yet the warmth and lovability of a cocker spaniel! He didn't let Cheney get away with any of his partys bullshit/distortions...

There was a stark contrast in the demeaner of the candidates! I felt Edwards did a nice job of connecting with the middle class... Cheney probly looked good to wealthy smug Repug voters but Edwards kicked ass!

:dem:

16. It was a draw they both did well
Cheney is alot more Cagey than Bush where it was clear Kerry was in control. They duked it out well credit to both, just a thought that Cheney was softselling his image quite a bit being known to get testy which was wise on his part. I really have to say I don't care for Gwen Eiffle very much, she was my least favorite part of the debate. She seemed to defer to the vice president quite a bit. Oh well might have been my imagionation but she bugs me.
