Edwards keeps Cheney on defensive in debate

ORLANDO, Fla. - (KRT) - The first and only scheduled debate between Vice President Dick Cheney and Democrat John Edwards was billed Tuesday as Darth Vader versus Luke Skywalker, the tough-talking government insider versus the sunny first-term senator.

But during the more than 90-minute confrontation, it may have been Edwards who battled hardest, proved most aggressive and scored the most political points.

Edwards' measured performance is likely to further shake President Bush's campaign, which was wobbled by his flustered showing in the first presidential debate with Democratic nominee John Kerry.
