"The relationship between your president and ours is irreparable on the personal level," a U.S. official told a senior French military aide, according to the book, "Chirac Versus Bush — The Other War."

I very much admire Chirac's skill at this. He has an unspoken agreement with photographers--he sets up "the good shot" and they, in exchange for these great opportunities, do not go out of their way to publish pictures of him that make him look goofy or stupid.
