Belmont County Soldier Killed In Iraq

The phone call every military family dreads came into the Morgan family home in Maynard early Tuesday morning.

From a Department of Defense spokesman, Diana learned her husband, Sgt. Richard Morgan, of the 660th Transportation Unit of Cadiz, was killed by a land mine in Iraq. Within hours, more than a dozen family members had joined Diana to offer grief and comfort.

Sgt. Rick Morgan was 38 years old. He met Diana while he was stationed in Germany almost 20 years ago. They married there and celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary, as well as Diana's birthday, while he was home two weeks ago.

I Casualties confirms name as #1064 http://icasualties.org/oif/

to tally the casualties. Each one saddens and outrages me just a little bit more.

Thank you again.

5. Enjoy the fishing. Your reply reminds me of Matthew Arnold's "Dover Beach"
wherein Arnold writes:

:Oh, love, let us be true to one another
For the world which seems so various, so wonderful, so new
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor hope for pain
And we are gathered as on a darkling plain
Scattered by alarums of doubt and fight
Where ignorant armies clash by night."

(May have mis-quoted a word or two from memory.)

Until Nov. 2, we must take solace in the small, private matters (like your fishing with your grandson).

4. I am so tired of the mainstream media
hiding the horror of this war, the troops who have died and been injured along with the thousands of innocent Iraqis. My thoughts and prayers for another lost life and grieving family.

I hate this war!

8. I'm from Martins Ferry OH in belmonty CO. Not only is this war hurting
the poor people in the Ohio Valley. They've also been hurt on many levels because of Bush's economy. His flip=flop on steel tariffs especially has hurt Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel hard. There are a lot of Democrats in this area, but in the rural areas such as Cadiz, Colerain, There are Bush supporters voting against their own financial, and physical well-being...WHY?

10. Phone call? Don't they come and tell you in person anymore?
That's cold.

I can't believe how fast we've jumped from the landmark of 1,000 dead last month, to 1,064 today. What a horrific, tragic, month.

Another grieving family courtesy of Bush's lies.
