Cheney's claim of not meeting Edwards backfires on vice president
INGLEWOOD, Colo. - At first, it seemed like it might go down in history as one of those killer debate moments: Vice President Dick Cheney, who presides over the Senate, said he'd never met Sen. John Edwards until their encounter Tuesday night in Cleveland.

"I'm up in the Senate most Tuesdays when they're in session," said Cheney, turning to Edwards, the North Carolina Democrat, whom he faulted for skipping lots of votes. "The first time I ever met you was when you walked on the stage tonight."

But the bon mot backfired. Cheney was wrong.

Within an hour, Democrats circulated photographs and video snippets showing Edwards and Cheney standing next to each other on the dais at the Feb. 1, 2001, National Prayer breakfast.

"Thank you very much. Congressman Watts, Senator Edwards, friends across the country and distinguished visitors to our country from all over the world, Lynne and I are honored to be with you all this morning," Cheney said, according to a transcript.

4. Is DEMENTIA setting in?
Three different occasions that they met and Cheney cant' remember one of them. Would that be loss of short or long term memory?

2. "Cheney aides said Wednesday that his comment wasn't misleading."
"...It pointed up a larger truth, they said."

I get it. No one really heard him say that. Just like he tried to explain how there was no connection between Iraq and 911 on Meet the Press.

Does this guy know how NOT to lie?

It is interesting to note, Edwards has acted as Acting President just as many times as teh President of the Senate - cheney - has.

So, in four years, Cheney has only presided over 2 Senate sessions. Which is his job.

Also, he only met with Republican committees. No wonder he never saw any dems.

9. It gets better...
...now "most Tuesdays" has been found to be exactly TWICE in the last 4 years. Unfortunatly, people will remmeber the soundbites - not the truth.

10. Does anyone think that Cheney will survive to election night?
....he looks pretty bad for someone who is only 63 years old. What would happen to Shrub if Cheney kicks the bucket or is unable to serve as VP? I think that is another major election issue for voters to be thinking about. Remember that on 9-11 Dubya was being flown around the country completely out of the decision loop while Dick Cheney was calling the shots back at the White House bunker.
