Kerry training hard at suburban hotel (RMN, nice pic of Teresa)
Democrat remains behind closed doors to prepare for debate

By Jim Tankersley, Rocky Mountain News
October 7, 2004

ARAPAHOE COUNTY - Drizzling rain cleared the tennis courts and the outdoor pool Wednesday at the Inverness resort. It knocked all but a few die-hards off the golf course, but John Kerry didn't bring clubs anyway.

>snip

The campaign dispatched McCurry to brief reporters on Kerry's preparations and denounce Bush's latest speech in a makeshift media
center overlooking the hotel golf course. It also sent Teresa Heinz Kerry, the candidate's wife, to meet with some local Republicans who plan to vote for Kerry.

>snip

A dozen Republicans who plan to snub Bush in November spent about 45 minutes with Heinz Kerry on Wednesday.

The senator's wife told them the Republican Party has changed since the 1970s, when her late husband John Heinz won a Senate seat as a "Rockefeller Republican."

5. Interesting..
Only something like 82 votes so far, but, with the question being:

Which presidential campaign does a better job sticking to the facts?, Kerry Edwards hold what Rush and Company might describe as a "slight" lead...89.2% to 10.8%.

Um...methinks CO may turn back into the Kerry EV column soon, eh?

4. Good article!
Especially since the rockymountainnews is suppose to be a "rw rag".

"A dozen Republicans who plan to snub Bush in November spent about 45 minutes with Heinz Kerry on Wednesday.

The senator's wife told them the Republican Party has changed since the 1970s, when her late husband John Heinz won a Senate seat as a "Rockefeller Republican."

She said Heinz began to feel out of place in the party in the 1980s, and that the party now brings "ridicule, condescension, arrogance against anybody who's not like you"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TERESA! :toast:  :D
