Actor (Michael J.) Fox Films Campaign Ad for Kerry
NEW YORK -- Actor Michael J. Fox is returning to TV -- in a commercial praising Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry for his stance on stem cell research.

"John Kerry strongly supports stem cell research. George Bush is putting limits on it," Fox says in an ad Kerry's campaign unveiled Thursday. "Stem cell research can help millions of Americans whose lives have been touched by devastating illnesses. George Bush says we can wait. I say lives are at stake and it's time for leadership. That's why I support John Kerry for president."

The campaign said the ad would run in local media markets in states considered battlegrounds.

Fox, who has Parkinson's disease, campaigned with Kerry in New Hampshire on Monday and filmed the ad after the event.

3. Good for Mike.
Great guy with a big heart. Glad his Alex P. Keaton persona didn't rub off on him.

I remember on the last episode of "Spin City", his character described to his friends how in Washington he's run into this new congressman named Alex P. Keaton, and what a jerk the guy is!

15. I think Alex was more a paleo-con than a neo-con
He wouldn't have gone along with the Iraqi invasion and the ballooning federal spending.

7. Yeah, but isn't it just a Tad Pathetic
That republicans only take Principled Stands (on anything) when they Personally Stand to gain?

9. Are you joking?
Do you have information that MJF is actually a Republican on other issues? Or are you making a joke because of his Alex P. Keaton character?

12. You're confusing the actor with a character he once played.
THAT's pathetic.

14. Uh oh, you sure put me in My Place
I am indeed experiencing the Deep Shame of posting Confused Information on The Internet. I doubt that such a Faux Pas has ever been committed before. Once again, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID (picture Me banging my head against The Wall).

Of course, the unpleasant (for you) fact remains that Fertility Clinics (which "waste" a HUGE NUMBER of sacred embryonic-type cells) remain in Business largely through the Patronage of Rich Republicans. Where's the outrage there?

16. It takes courage to stand up
Even if you know you may benefit from it. We all make decisions on candidates because they support our causes. This one is just more personal for Fox. It doesn't matter that he was born in Canada, or that we once played a Republican character named Alex P. Keaton. Most of us on this board and in the Democratic party, support stem cell research. And the bu$h administration set that that research back at least 4 years. Even when Kerry wins and we re-start the research efforts it may be too late for Michael Keaton. These things take time but every day we waste we may condemn someone else we might have saved.

I wish him and his family all the best.

Sonia

20. It goes beyond MJF for Canadians....
The overwhelming majority of us are for Kerry.

Even most of our conservatives like him over Bush. We are smart and progressive...and no doubt, the majority of Americans will also be smarter and more progressive after electing President Kerry!
