Bush administration in denial about lack of Iraq WMD: Kay (HOLY CRAP!!)
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 01:12 PM by Beetwasher
WASHINGTON (AFP) - President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s administration is in denial over the lack of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq (news - web sites) before the US-led invasion in 2003, ex-chief US arms inspector David Kay said.

A report by the Iraq Survey Group that Kay ran until he quit at the start of the year found Iraq had no chemical, biological or nuclear weapons when Bush was saying that Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) was a growing threat.

The White House has insisted Saddam was a threat to the United States and had weapons of mass destruction capability, but Kay told NBC television: "All I can say is 'denial' is not just a river in Egypt."

"The report is scary enough without misrepresenting what it says," he added.

4. After this statement what else can one say
"They will focus on issues such as intent. You will also hear that although we haven't found the weapons or manufacturing capability, they could have been shipped across the border. You can't ship that which you haven't produced. You can't bury that which you haven't obtained or produced."

What else does the current government need to hear to get them to stand up and say "We're sorry, we made a mistake"?

5. Changing the System
"No one will believe us as long as we haven't changed the system," Kay said.

I have a really good idea about where to start.

6. Wow! Kay pulls no punches
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 01:20 PM by UpInArms
But Kay told CNN television "Right now we have a lot of people who are desperate to justify the Bush administration's decision to go to war with Iraq.

"They will focus on issues such as intent. You will also hear that although we haven't found the weapons or manufacturing capability, they could have been shipped across the border. You can't ship that which you haven't produced. You can't bury that which you haven't obtained or produced."

"Look, Saddam was delusional. He had a lot of intent. He wanted to be Saladin the Great, of the Middle East yet again. He wanted to put Iraq in a preeminent position to remove the US from the region," Kay added.

"He had a lot of intent. He didn't have capabilities. Intent without capabilities is not an imminent threat."

14. Above all else David Kay is a scientist and an empiricist
according to former CIA analyst Ray McGovern (another courageous guy).

This administration relied upon "selective" intelligence from the OSP and other neo-conservative sources-like Ahmed Chalabi.

This administration spent $600M on the Iraq Survey Group as part of cooking the intelligence to "justify" the Iraq war instead of using that money to fight Al Queda and Osama bin Laden.

They all lied and people are still dying as the lies continue.

17. Best News in WEEKS!!!! They're JUMPING into Kerry's trap with both feet!
Kerry and Edwards are trying to portray the administration (accurately, as we all knew, but now the nation can see!0 as delusional, out-of-touch, etc.

Every time Cheney or Bush open their mouths about WMDs, or al-Quaeda connections, or how well ting are going in Iraq, they dig them selves in deeper. The GREAT NEWS is that they cannot seem to stop themselves. It's damned near pathological . . . beautifully so.

18. So let's get this straight...
First Saddam and Iraq were making weapons and had stock piles...

Then none were found...

So then Saddam had them hidden somewhere...

None were still found...

Then they said he had the capasity to make them...

That was disproven...

Now they are saying that Saddam was thinking about making them...

Maybe...

But then the CIA said that Saddam was pissed at Iran and was wanting to protect himself from them...

Hmmm, so according to this information...

Any nation wanting to protect it's borders from a hostile neighbor, is now on a watch list as a possible threat to the US????

Would this include Canada and Mexico?????

36. Why would Saddam lie? Don't forget the Kurds.
What better way to keep the truculant Kurds from all-out rebellion than the threat of chemical weapons that he had already used on them? If he had admitted they didn't exist, could he have kept the Kurdish provinces from rising?

What it comes down to, he was more afraid of his own people than of the US and the UN. He told the lie that he thought would keep him safest.

24. Could they have HAD a worse week?
Paul Bremmer says he asked told them more troops were needed and was ignored; Donald Rumsfeld slips and tells the truth, then has to shove it back into his mouth; Senator Edwards refused to sit and stutter in the face of debating the Dick; Delay receives 3 rebukes within 1 week; Today's arms inspection report is devastating; and David Kay rips them up one side and down the other.

All of this following the quivering mass of steaming doo-doo that showed up on the stage in Florida last week.

WOW! No wonder CNN is starting to do some reporting that is not exactly Bush favorable. They smell blood in the water, and will go for the shark attack every time....IT IS GREAT!!!!

25. So just where are those pages that were ripped out of the dossier?
THE United States edited out more than 8000 crucial pages of Iraq's 11,800-page dossier on weapons, before passing on a sanitized version to the 10 non-permanent members of the United Nations security council.

The full extent of Washington's complete control over who sees what in the crucial Iraqi dossier calls into question the allegations made by US Secretary of State Colin Powell that 'omissions' in the document constituted a 'material breach' of the latest UN resolution on Iraq.

Last week, Secretary General of the UN Kofi Annan accepted that it was 'unfortunate' that his organization had allowed the US to take the only complete dossier and edit it. He admitted 'the approach and style were wrong' and Norway, a member of the security council, says it is being treated like a 'second-class country'.
