Bush, Iraq in the spotlight for second debate - AFP

The Republican goes into the "town hall" encounter Friday in the midwestern city of St. Louis, Missouri struggling to regain his footing after a poor showing in last week's debate and a string of bad news on his Iraq policies.

With most polls showed Kerry pulling even in the race, Bush was on the defensive over a new official report that put a final nail in his argument that he had to invade Iraq to rid Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) of weapons of mass destruction.

<snip>

It could be the president's last chance to score head-to-head points against Kerry on security, considered Bush's strong point. The third and final debate next Wednesday in the western state of Arizona will focus on domestic issues.

<snip>

Polls show him narrowing Bush's lead on who could do a better job of dealing with Iraq and terrorism. The Democrat sought to neutralize those issues and focus on the economy and health care, where the president is much more vulnerable.

5. Please, dog, let B* choke again -- and in Missouri, no less.
Hope B* chokes again. It might even be enough to swing Missouri.

8. "Its current average rating is 3.69 with 131 vote(s)."
It's getting there! One of the many stories of the chimp's larest woes, but this one tags him a pretty good lick.

11. This is exactly how the critics said Kerry needed to do it
...turn the focus to Bush and his record- It's what they all said after the VP debate.

One faux Major Policy Speech and a damning report later, and Wala!

12. Spotlight? Methinks frying pan....
Soon into the fire.

If all he's got are 'zingers', he's dead meat. His zingers sure got him far in the first debate.
